Mrs. Parasol's Picture
Mrs. Parasol, San Ramon, California Age and Occupation: 25, Non-profit writer, editor, and blogger Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Law school student Engagement Date: December 19th, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California) About Me: I am a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, sunny days at the beach, and hiking in the woods and mountains. I also love good books and am fresh from completing my Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature in New York City. Living in NYC was an amazing experience, and while I'm glad to be back on the West Coast, I'm also thankful that my two years back East gave me an opportunity to explore new places, make new friends, and indulge my passion for Broadway shows. Oh, and I received a pretty awesome proposal from Mr. Parasol in Central Park. Above all else, Mr. Parasol is my biggest cheerleader and my best friend. But even though I'm thrilled to be marrying him, I wasn't always totally on board with this whole wedding thing and at first, I wanted to run off and elope. I've finally been convinced to throw the wedding I never thought I wanted, and so now I'm busy planning an intimate September wedding filled with DIY details. Along the way, I'm slowly learning to appreciate, perhaps even love the wedding planning process.

Wedding Shoes?

July 28th, 2011 @ 6:09 pm by Mrs. Parasol

The last time I blogged about wedding shoes, I was a bumbling mess of confusion and indecision. I wish I could say that I have finally decided on a pair but, alas, the search continues. I have made progress, though, in that I did purchase a pair of potential shoes. I really love them; they’re very comfortable and very me, and they were less than $20 (win!). But I’m not totally sold yet. I mean, these are my wedding shoes, the only shoes I will ever get married in. They are kind of a big deal (and a big headache!).

Anyway, here are a few pictures of the contenders. (They were the last pair featured in my previous post about wedding shoes.)

As I said, I really do love them. I think I’m still worried that they may be too simple (though I do love simplicity!), and I wish they were a tad more blush. In the last photo, they look pretty neutral. Maybe I can ask my photographer to Photoshop some blush into the shoes. Hmmm.

What do you ladies think? Are these shoes good enough to get married in? Or should I keep looking? I’m at a loss!

What aspects of your wedding are you indecisive about? How do you finally get it together and make a decision?

I don’t know if you’re a glitter girl but you could always add some blush colored glitter to them. I’ve seen tutorials online with glitter and Modge Podge or some tutorials and even spray painting shoes different colors. Just a thought….

or you could clip / glue little fabric rosettes to them (like such: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marang97/5879301911/). could be ivory, gray, blush, pink etc. just an idea! :)
btw, any shoes you can walk and dance and laugh and hug in are bona fide wedding shoes :) much more worthy than painful heels in my opinion! all the best!

Your shoes look a lot like mine did. I think they’re really sweet. If you want inspiration you could check out JCrew or maybe even Talbots will have something similar if you decide to alter them. I don’t know what dress you have yet, but I’m sure they’ll be great the way they are.

It’s funny about shoes….
I didn’t put too much thought into them and knew I’d have 2 pair. Heels and switch to flats for the reception. I was looking more for how I’d feel in them.
I wore my JCrew heels (which were blush!) for the entire day. With all the things to do, I totally forgot to switch out my shoes. They were excellent. So much for the nail biting I did while searching for flats…

I hope you get peace and love your decision!

I think they’re cute! And you’ll definitely be able to wear them again. :)

I think they are cute, but I’d probably add a shoe clip in there - maybe a flower clip or something with rhinestones or pearls? Just to jazz it up. Etsy has many options, and then you could remove the clips after the wedding and wear them again!

I love them! I wore simple blush flats on my wedding day as well, so I may be a bit biased. Though mine also came out closer to nude than blush. It’s really great getting to wear your wedding shoes regularly. Whenever i wear them I smile at the Mr. and tell him “these are the shoes I married you in!” Not sure if he cares, but I think it’s awesome. :D

I just don’t like them, not my style, but that doesn’t matter. If you love them go forth and marry! Congratulations

I like it! I am going for something similar…

The way I look at it, they will be completely covered by the dress anyway and I’d rather wear something comfortable that I won’t trip in.

I think they are great!

You all have such great suggestions! Who knew I was so picky about shoes? :)
@Mrs.Anchors: The shoes I ended up choosing are from Talbots! They are so pretty, and they are incredibly comfortable. Win-win! @JackieDe: Your hubby sounds so cute! I hope Mr. Parasol says things like that to me after the wedding.

@rusticgirl: Those do look so comfy! And you’re totally right: no one’s going to see your shoes unless you shoe them, so why not be comfortable? :)

Ooooh, I think they’re super pretty, Parasol. I am such a sucker for blush :) I think they look more tan in the last picture because they’re up against the carpet, maybe? Anyway, I like!

I really like them, and they are a great deal! I think your photographer should be able to make sure they appear plenty blush colored in your photos.

They are very plain, but if its what you want, then go for it. I am making a huge deal about my shoes, way to much given that they are highly unlikely to be seen. If you want blush though, you might fair better to find blush colored shoes rather than have your photographer photoshop it in. You could also add little clasps to these to dress them up.

I have those shoes! Just to warn you, make sure you wear them around a lot first, because they cut into the back of my heels quite a bit. So if they do that to you too you may think twice.
