Mrs. Parasol's Picture
Mrs. Parasol, San Ramon, California Age and Occupation: 25, Non-profit writer, editor, and blogger Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Law school student Engagement Date: December 19th, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California) About Me: I am a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, sunny days at the beach, and hiking in the woods and mountains. I also love good books and am fresh from completing my Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature in New York City. Living in NYC was an amazing experience, and while I'm glad to be back on the West Coast, I'm also thankful that my two years back East gave me an opportunity to explore new places, make new friends, and indulge my passion for Broadway shows. Oh, and I received a pretty awesome proposal from Mr. Parasol in Central Park. Above all else, Mr. Parasol is my biggest cheerleader and my best friend. But even though I'm thrilled to be marrying him, I wasn't always totally on board with this whole wedding thing and at first, I wanted to run off and elope. I've finally been convinced to throw the wedding I never thought I wanted, and so now I'm busy planning an intimate September wedding filled with DIY details. Along the way, I'm slowly learning to appreciate, perhaps even love the wedding planning process.

Guess What Arrived Today? : wedding san ramon wedding dress Parasol parasol

I woke up this morning to a voicemail from Priscilla of Boston saying that my “gorgeous wedding gown” had arrived at the salon. I was absolutely ecstatic! After months of waiting, she’s finally here! And if that’s not good news to wake up to, I don’t know what is.

Now does this mean that I will be rushing out to my first fitting later this week? Unfortunately, no. You see, because I ordered my dress from the New York salon, it was also sent there. The good news is that the New York salon will ship my gown to a POB salon in California for free. I’m so thankful that I don’t have to go back to New York to get my dress and transport it across the country myself; I can only image what a headache traveling with a giant ball gown would be!

But because POB has to ship my gown, that means I have to wait just a little bit longer to finally meet my beautiful wedding dress. I know that she’s well worth the wait and, thankfully, she arrived about a week ahead of schedule, so there’s plenty of time for fittings and alterations and the like. But I can’t wait to wear her again! And I’ll be so excited when I finally have pictures of myself in the dress so I can stop posting these silly model pictures. Stay tuned for that reveal! It’ll be an exciting day!

How did you feel when your wedding dress arrived? Did you have to jump through any hoops to get your gown?

What a great message! I drove 3.5 hours to pick up my dress the next day, I was so anxious to try it on my dress. Can’t wait to see you in your dress!

Ooooh love! I didn’t get any of the waiting/delivering giddiness, I got one gown from a sample sale and the real gown from David’s =) But I was Priscilla’s (and Melissa Sweet’s) biggest fan the whole time!! Can’t wait to see you in this lovely dress.

Hooray! I tracked my dress like a hound while it was in transit to our apartment and actually took time off that afternoon to make sure I was home to sign for it, hehe.

@Mrs. Tartlet: You funny, Tartlet! ;)

I ordered my dress up in MN and then came back to TX (where I live) I got the call that my dress had come in in October, and had to wait until DECEMBER to try it on when I was home for Christmas. I could have died. seriously.

YAY!!! Pretty gown! and even better is they’ll send it to a place near you free of charge!!!
I demanded the gown be kept at the UPS site near my workplace and nearly flipped out when they said it MIGHT be on the truck!
Fortunately, it wasn’t and I couldn’t resist opening it in my car and drooling over it. :D I then coaxed my FI into meeting me at lunch at a gas station with outside bathrooms so I could try it on!!! LOL!

So happy for (and jealous of) you! My dress is waiting for me back home, but we’re on our annual summer camping trip, so I must wait. At least I have something to keep me away from too many s’mores.

My PoB gown arrived at my office in a HUGE box. It was so difficult to not squirm all day in anticipation of opening the box that night! Your gown IS gorgeous, just for the record. ;)

Your kind words are so appreciated, ladies! :)

@crystalirene: What an awesome cousin you have! I may have had to enlist friends from NY to pick up and ship my dress if POB didn’t ship it for free.
@Miss Pony: I think you really wanted to see your dress! I totally would’ve drive three and a half hours as well if I could!
@Mrs. Thimble: I was THIS close to buying a sample dress, which I could have taken home with me. But in the end, I’m glad I picked the dress I did, even if it means I have to wait. :)
@Mrs. Tartlet: You’re so funny! I would have done the same! @organicgal: Oh my word, that’s such a long wait! I think I only waited two weeks, and that was torture!
@Ryna: Oh my word, I would have flipped, too! I’m so glad to hear that your dress finally got here safely. @Mrs. Pain au Chocolat: Haha, that’s so funny! I totally would have tried it on in the bathroom if I could. :)
