With our dance floor in full effect, our DOC let us know that it was time to cut the cake. The cake was so pretty I almost hated to cut it…but my love for buttercream frosting took over within a few seconds. When we met with the baker, we decided to add a fake bottom layer to give the cake a little more presence in the room, and I’m so glad that we did. It ended up looking so good that I had to remind King Hippo that the bottom layer wasn’t real just moments before cutting into it.
We started with the traditional groom’s hand on top cutting technique, but quickly abandoned it and decided that we needed to divide up responsibilities. I took over the cutting while King Hippo kept the plate really close so we didn’t have a catastrophe.
The hardest part about the whole cutting the cake thing was the eating part. I was trying to watch the fork going into my mouth while trying to aim my fork into King Hippo’s mouth…awkward, to say the least!

| Notice how I’m helping King Hippo with his aim? That cake was not going to be anywhere but in my mouth! |

For real… the tastiest wedding cake ever! These are our “OMG-this-is-so-freaking-good” faces.
And with that, it was back to the dance floor!
