Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich's Picture
Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich, Washington, DC/Cape May, NJ Age and Occupation: 28, School Counselor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Collegiate Athletics Engagement Date: March 27, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Congress Hall Hotel About Me: I am a school counselor who spends my day wrangling children and my nights attempting to be creative with wedding projects. My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.

Stamp It Out

August 3rd, 2011 @ 1:40 pm by Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

Alternative title: A Ploy to Post Tons of Pictures of my Furbaby

Mr. Cucumber Sammie and I love our furbaby (most days). However, she is a complete menace and is not invited to the wedding. This makes Mr. CS sad. But we have been searching for ways to include her in the wedding.

There are so many cute options for including furbabies. Some brides have done doggie cake toppers.

Maybe custom puppy invitations.

Or even adorable escort cards.

The other day Mama CS had the best idea ever! What about custom Pickle Puppy stamps for our RSVP postcards?!? This way guests can catch a glimpse of her when they mail back their card, and we can enjoy getting mail with Pickle Puppy’s smiling face. I was thinking about putting them on the invitations themselves, but I arbitrarily decided more people would check the RSVP for a stamp than the invite. Now to pick a picture.

Perhaps cute and sentimental?

Or fun and playful?

Fall themed to represent our wedding season?

Can you find the pickle?

And then I found it. The perfect picture that represents exactly what we want our guests to feel at our wedding.

Ta-da! Clearly the Pickle Puppy has had the time of her life and can barely keep her eyes open from all the fun. Exactly how we want our guests to leave the Cucumber Sammie wedding!

I uploaded the picture to Zazzle, and just a short 10 days later I had custom stamps in my hands.

Oh she is so cute. And the Pickle Puppy stamp in action:

You see that correctly—those are the backs of our RSVPs, meaning invitation reveal coming soon!

How did you include your pets in the wedding? Is it too late to un-spoil a two-year-old dog?

So sweet. I had my dog walk me down the aisle I made her a pink rose wreath to wear instead of a collar. She was pretty old at the time but she knew it was important. She pranced down the aisle like when she was just a pup. We got married on the terrace of a golf club. They didn’t want her inside the club or on the greens. Worked out perfectly because my parents lived close by. After she had her photo ops, she was escorted back to a very comfy leather couch to relax the rest if the day away.

awwww! That first one of your pup is just too darn cute! We also have a beagle the will be 3. We are inviting him to the reception, but not the church…way to many problems there. Plus he would want to stop at every pew and make people pet him.

Too cute! We are contemplating whether we trust our beloved english bulldog to be our ring bearer…the jury is still out.

For my wedding day gift to my FI I had an artist do a painting of our puppy….I can’t WAIT to give it to him!

Oh we’re doing that too! We have a boxer/american bulldog mix and he’s too nuts to have anything to do with the wedding, so we’re getting custom stamps done as well :) My cousins photographer had a life-sized cutout of their boxer done for the photo booth at their wedding for guests to pose with- too cute!

awww! I can relate to how you feel! we desperately would have loved for our pug/beagle mix to be in our wedding or at attendance at least but she doesn’t do well around large # of people – she gets overly excited! your pup is adorable and i love the stamp idea! we decided to add her onto our cake topper and on our invites :)
