Walk down the aisle in front of me, wear a matching dress with up to 10 other girls, put up with a potential crazy bride brain, host my hens’ night, stand around in the potential cold taking a thousand pictures whilst pretending to laugh at a nonexistent joke, and spend a night sitting with us instead of your partner at our wedding?

Let’s be honest: “Will you be my bridesmaid?” is a lot nicer way of putting it!
I had decided on who would be my bridesmaids long before we were engaged. Mr. Teaspoon had talked about having two groomsmen, so I started to think about two women to join me!
Bridesmaid A is my closest friend, which is strange because we only met in our first week of university—we instantly clicked and have been great friends ever since. We no longer live in the same city, and hopefully soon we won’t live in the same country (she is trying to get a job in the USA)! We dont see each other often, but when we do it’s wonderful; it is as though we haven’t actually been apart. And we do try and chat on the phone as often as we can! The strange thing about our relationship is that we have virtually no common friends! We have a few friends that we met at university, but none of whom we are in contact with anymore. The great thing about our relationship is that Mr. Teaspoon and her boyfriend get on so well! They both LOVE American sports! Does help that BM A’s boyfriend is from Seattle—it definitely makes our catch-ups great because we can chat girly and they can chat sports!
Bridesmaid M is my oldest friend. We met as wee little four-year-olds at preschool. We then went to primary school and then high school together and have been friends ever since! We have all of our school friends and a variety of other friends in common, and we have a great time together. We haven’t been friends for 25 years for nothing! A bonus point for Bridesmaid M—she will be very handy on the day because she is a hairdresser and, whilst she refuses to actually do my hair, she will help in case of any issues and will be in charge of a mid-function switch-a-roo (more on that one later).
Needless to say, these women are very important people in my life, and I thought it only fitting I should ask them to be my bridesmaids in a very special way! I had a great time crafting up some lovely cards for them based on the tutorial here.
As I’m only having two bridesmaids, I included myself in the little people. I started by cutting out a little shape with dresses on.

Then the girls got accessorised, and I wrote across the chest of each person their name (one says Sez, the other Sarah as, that’s what each girl calls me—personalise it a little, you know!), and below that I wrote: “Be my bridesmaid?”

Then on the front of each card I wrote: “I have a question for you?”

And they open to reveal a lovely note from yours truly and the little fold-out women!

This definitely gave me the DIY bug! Not that the world of wedding blogging and wedding websites hadn’t already given me the bug—that’s why I made special cards!
