During the course of wedding planning, I’ve had several pretty intense wedding nightmares. And I’m not just talking about wedding-related dreams. I’m talking about full-blown wedding nightmares, those of the variety in which EVERYTHING goes disastrously wrong.

OK, I guess none of my nightmares have been quite as bad as this image. I mean, I’ve never shown up at the ceremony sans wedding dress (phew!). Though I’ve come dangerously close to this, and most of the time my nightmares have to do with my wedding-day attire.
Here are just a few wedding disasters I’ve dreamed about recently:
My most recent wedding nightmare was particularly disquieting. The night after I made my first alterations appointment (which is this week!), I had a dream about the appointment. I was patiently waiting for my dress when the consultant told me that it would be slightly different than I remembered. I was totally confused and panicked, so she explained that the original dress was too difficult to alter, so the designer just changed the design and fabric a bit.
When I put on my dress, it was completely different. It had a ton of lace, the bodice was primarily see-through, and there was a drop waist. I basically died. I know some people like these qualities in a wedding dress, but they are absolute deal-breakers for me. And to top it all off, the fabric was this gross stretchy material, which the consultant described as a “white denim.” She went on to add that this material was much easier for them to work with and alter. I quickly dissolved into tears, completely freaking out and demanding to get my original dress back.
I woke up in a state of total panic, convinced that my dream dress was really gone forever and had, in fact, been replaced by this monstrosity. But as sanity set back in, I remembered that there is no way a bridal salon like Priscilla of Boston could ever do something this crazy. And in any event, it wasn’t worth worrying about until after I have my alterations appointment and actually see my dress.
So now that I’ve just shared my crazy wedding nightmares, it’s your turn! Have you ever had any wedding nightmares? I’d love to hear about them, if only because it would mean that I’m not the only one whose subconscious is working overtime to add additional wedding stress!
