My Dancing Shoes!

August 5th, 2011 @ 8:45 am by Mrs. Teaspoon

Couldn’t you just swoon all day over the little pop of colour poking out from the bottom of the wedding dress! This is the exact photo that made me NEED blue wedding shoes!

Before Mr. Teaspoon and I were engaged, I had my heart set on some beautiful, expensive, sparkly, delicate blue shoes—also known as “Something Blue” by Manolo Blahnik—just like Mrs. Fro Yo’s:

Or even the Christian Louboutin:

However, after much discussion and trying on of the shoes, I came to the harsh realisation that I am not the adept stilletto-walking expert that I believed myself to be. I was able to get from point A to point B, but I wasn’t able to DANCE! Sure, I could sashay from side to side in the shorts and top that I was wearing, but considering the weight of my dress and that by the time I am dancing I would have been in the heels for a considerable amount of time, I don’t think tall heels would have worked for me. Also, as you know, those little pretties don’t be coming cheap! So, with a heavy heart, I decided to put the designer shoes behind me and move on to greener (or bluer) pastures. I went to visit a store with specifically designed bridal shoes, where all of the shoes can be dyed!

I started with something without an embellishment…

…but then the lure of the sparkly got me.

Don’t be alarmed, I haven’t decided to forgo my blue shoes—I will just be purchasing these shoes and dying them the beautiful royal blue that I love!

The wise lady at the store did tell me to keep them in the ivory that I purchased them in so that I can decide to dye them after I see them under the dress! Before my first fitting I did for a very split second actually consider keeping them ivory, then I remembered how much I love the blue and simply couldn’t resist! So, after my very soon second fitting (where my hem is being adjusted), these bad boys are going to the Smurfs!

Has anyone got any wisdom to share with me about dying shoes?

I love this idea of dyeing your shoes. That way you can really control the color and get it just perfect. I got lucky in that my shoe choice happened to be the perfect color for my dress. Yeah, I bought the shoes first. But yours will be more custom to your needs. Lovely!

Can’t wait to see them! Any chance that the dye will rub off on your foot? I have always wondered about that…

I got really cute kitten heels in blue and cream, and the cream didn’t clash at all with my white dress and I loved them! I wear them to work and get dressed up now :)

I want blue shoes as well! I think I want flats though, because its an outdoor wedding and I am not good at keeping uncomfortable heels on lol.

those shoes are gonna be amazeballs in blue. i cant wait to see them! i considered buying dye-able shoes from Davids Bridal for a wedding i was in as a BM and dying them yellow, but I was looking for a mustard yellow and all they had was this pale canary yellow (ew). I ended up spending a small fortune (for me at the time) on already-yellow shoes. Looking back, I should have bought the shoes i liked and found a place that would dye them the shade of yellow i wanted.

I love the sparkly addition–the clips really make the shoes pop. :) Please keep us posted on how the dye job goes–I’ve always been curious about how to do it!

Those shoe clips look fantastic on those shoes! I can’t wait to see how they turn out after you dye them. Unfortunately I now have the intense desire to go stalk pairs of Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik across the internet despite my inability to afford them. So pretty….

I love the sparkly! I really like the look of blue shoes. It didn’t work with our wedding colors, but I’m always so envious when I see them on others!

The bit of bling is a perfect sparkly complement to those shoes…they will look fabulous when you dye them. Looking forward to the blue reveal!

@MrsSl82be: I’m almost certain that it doesn’t? But maybe @Mrs. Waffle: can help me out!

I can’t wait to see them in blue, I have the perfect colour in blue flats but they are worn out from overuse.

I’m so late to this, but thanks for the shout out! I still love those shoes and find excuses to wear them. :)
