About Mrs. Teaspoon

Thanks for Coming!

August 8th, 2011 @ 9:46 am by Mrs. Teaspoon

So I am particularly diligent when it comes to giving thanks where thanks is due, in particular if we go to someone’s house for a lovely dinner—thank you card; when we attend a wedding that is amazing—thank you card; and when we received the insanely generous gifts both before and at our engagement party—thank you card.

Originally we were quite partial to the non-photograph thank you cards: just a simple pattern or image on the front and straight to the point inside. However, we then received a thank you card with a wedding photo in the mail from a wedding we were unable to attend, and it was beautiful! We popped that wedding photo straight on our fridge. Luckily that was before we negotiated our photography package!

Now, included with our photography package (thanks to some hard bargaining on our part) are thank you cards to send to our guests after the wedding.

So, with that part decided, now what to do with the photo? There are so many creative brides out there who inspire me to do something amazing! I absolutely LOVE this…but it somewhat defeats the purpose of having a wedding photo on there, as you can’t actually see the bride and groom’s faces.

Next stop, plain “thank you” signs with a cute pose:

Then what happens if we don’t look quite as awesome in our “thank you” picture as we do in another photo? I think picking our favourite photo of the day will have to do for us! Despite how tempting it is to find a cute “thank you” sign!

I love the thank you photograph cards! I’m still secretly hoping to have the time/skill to make a sign because they are so darn cute.

I love this idea…I’m thinking of somehow incorporating the furbabies for our thank you cards!

I always loved these kinda of cards, but I get stuck on a logistical issue – if you get gifts/checks before the wedding, do you just put off those thank-you cards until after? I’m all hung up on the waiting period required between the wedding and actually receiving the thank you cards. Maybe I’m being a nerd!

I was super gung-ho to make time for a “thank you” sign photo, but ended up using one of our favorite images from the wedding instead. :)

@Miss Ladyfingers: I was hung up on the same issue, and I ended up writing thank you cards using non-wedding stationary for the gifts as they rolled in and then wrote another “thank you for coming to the wedding” card after on the wedding stationary. We had a smaller guest list, though, which made the doubling-up less of a nightmare…

Mrs. Elephant (I think) had a great rule where she would write a thank you card before depositing a check!

@Mrs. Tartlet: Ah, that sounds like a good idea! I definitely would also recommend writing a thank-you note before depositing a check – nobody wants to wait three months before their check is cashed (and wouldn’t it be nice to…um… use that money?) but I also think it’s classier to thank them first ;)

I ended up doing the “Thank-You” photo and am so glad I did. It turned out really cute despite the fact I just used a fancy font in Word on some white card-stock.
We sent out a formal pic as well as the thank-you pic and the response was VERY VERY positive.
Totally worth it!

I didn’t end up doing custom thank-you cards. I TOTALLY intended to. I had the design ready and everything, but to get it printed I found out it would cost like, $70, and Target had a cute 50-pack for $7. Target won. Oh well. I love the sparkler card!

@Mrs. Tartlet: Great idea! We have received a few wedding gifts already, might have to grab some pre-printed thankyou cards.

I made a “Thank You” wreath that we took pics with for our engagement photo shoot. I’m thinking of taking shots with that wreath on the day of each pre-wedding event and making a collage for our thank you cards. It will really depend on if I remember to bring the wreath to our e-party this weekend. But I can’t wait to see which photo you choose!

We wound up writing “Thank” and “You” on two chalkboards. I hope the pictures turn out well!!

I love the photo thank you cards! Like everyone else it seems, we are in the awkward place where we have received gifts but haven’t had the wedding yet so no thank you notes. I am debating waiting until after the wedding to send thank yous for the couple of gifts we have received or would that be bad form?

Just did one of these during our Engagement shoot! I’m going to do another at the wedding to see which one I like better.
