Miss Seal’s Mini-Moon in Los Angeles

August 9th, 2011 @ 12:36 pm by Guest

Margaret from the new travel site Enrout is back this week to share with us her ideas for Miss Seal’s upcoming mini-moon in LA! Revisit Margaret’s great honeymoon series on Weddingbee here.

~~~
Let me tell you about the spectacular Miss Seal. She has a lots of heart, is incredibly wise, and I personally find her to be inspiring. The Seals are planning a four-night mini-moon to Disneyland with a $1,000 budget. Here’s my take on a honeymoon that will match their sparkling style and personalities!
Los Angeles - What To Do
Miss Seal couldn’t have picked a better spot than Disneyland for some giddy newlywed fun! As with any trip, one should definitely take advantage of the fast pass so that you can spend less time in line and more time holding hands during the fireworks. I think it would be lovely to purchase one special item on their trip, like a beautiful ornament to remind them of their engagement and honeymoon every Christmas, or a delicate hand-cut paper silhouette on Main Street…
After a day at Disneyland, the Seals might want to enjoy a relaxing day or two at the beach. Just lean back, pop open a bottle of engagement champagne, and spend time laughing and talking and mapping out their future. Coincidentally enough, Seal Beach happens to be a beautiful spot to lounge by the ocean waves. (Crystal Cove Beach and Newport Beach are also especially lovely, but I just couldn’t resist the Seal connection.)
It is easy to appreciate Miss Seal’s excellent taste in shoes, so a trip to Rodeo Drive might be a superb spot to soothe the sole…
Los Angeles - Where to Eat
Miss Seal is incorporating her grandmother’s gourmet sliders and fries into her wedding style, so it makes logical sense for her family history to take place during the honeymoon as well. Los Angeles happens to be the capital of seriously famous and delectable burgers, so I think a burger tour of LA is in order! Two must-eats on the tour are Father’s Office and Umami Burger.
Miss Seal’s Jimmy Choo’s are fabulous and need to be seen on the scene! The Seals can live it up in LA with Victoria Beckham and Hilary Swank at Gjelina. This Venice Beach celebrity hotspot would be a perfect romantic evening for the lovely couple.
The Seals could also hit their sweet spot with the BEST red velvet cupcakes on the west coast at Auntie Em’s Kitchen.
Los Angeles - Where to Stay
A vacation home by the beach would be a perfect place to stay for their honeymoon. Like this Newport Beach rental where the beach is literally in their backyard… just 15 steps away. If you like that, then you’ll love this Bamboo Loft at Seal Beach with a gorgeous beach color palette and, of course, the seal connection!
The Seals could also opt for a cottage near the Hollywood Hills. Doesn’t that couch look so cozy and inviting?
Los Angeles - Mini-Moon Budget Breakdown
  • $500 - Los Angeles vacation rental for four nights
  • $100 - gas to drive between SF and LA
  • $180 - Disneyland
  • $0 - Newport Beach
  • $0 - Seal Beach
  • $75 - Dinner at Gjelina
  • $20 - Father’s Office
  • $20 - Umami Burger
  • $5 - Red Velvet Cupcakes at Auntie Em’s Kitchen
$1,000 Total
Miss Seal has a $1,000 budget for a four-day mini-moon, and just like Cinderella’s glass slipper, the tally was a perfect fit. Have you thought about going on a mini-moon?
By my tally, the total is only $900, so there’s $100 spending money in there somewhere (which makes this trip even better!)
What a wonderful minimoon! @kcroxyoursox: Maybe it’s for the wedding Mickey and Minnie ears that the Seals will be getting? ;) Right Miss Seal?
@Miss Pony: Oh, you know us so well, Pony! I’m pretty sure that those veiled Minnie ears were like the third thought that entered my head after we got engaged :P Hehehe.
Thank you so much for these amazing ideas, Margaret! And I love that everything is so affordable! Mr. Parasol and I will be living in LA as newlyweds, and we would love to do a mini moon/staycation in our neighborhood, and you’ve given us lots of great and affordable ideas! Thank you!
The only thing with these recommendations is that every one of these places are WAY far away from each other. If you are going to Disneyland for 4 days (which is in Anaheim, Orange County…Not Los Angeles), I would say to just stay there nearby Disney!! Unless you want to be stuck in traffic for 2+ hours every day going to all these things. (Which might bother you less when you’re “on vacation,” it depends).
Do not stay in the Hollywood Hills area if you’re going to drive down to the OC each day, you will hate it! Sorry these recommendations work better if you’re taking a vacation to LA and “only making the drive down for one day” to Disney, as opposed to taking a “Disney vacation.”. We take our traffic seriously around here!!
I’m dorky enough to notice that the first photo is of Epcot in Disney World, Florida and not Disneyland. I wish I could get married there so I could have a private dessert party along the water during Illuminations (which is the fireworks show)… sigh. Gosh, I’m a dork.
anyhooo, I love these posts! Do they live close enough that the price doesn’t include a flight? That’s my only problem… the cost of a flight, especially when you add the tax of flying from Canada (to show what is typical, I saw a flight today advertised to Orlando for $89… with $369 in tax, ugh).
