Collecting the Wedding: Milkaholic

August 10th, 2011 @ 10:14 am by Mrs. Pony

Pretty early on in my wedding blog browsing, I decided we must have milk glass somewhere in our wedding. I loved the clean, polished look that milk glass gives while still looking fun and vintage.

Plus I knew that milk glass can be super cheap and easy to find, so its addition to our tables seemed like an obvious choice.

My initial plan was to combine my original inspiration images so that I would have my green vases and candles on a mirror with a couple of milk glass pieces with succulents on each side. This idea only really seemed to work with long tables, which we won’t be having (sad face). And shoving everything onto one mirror would look way too crowded.

For a while I wasn’t even sure we could use any milk glass on the tables.

Realizing this, it would make sense that I stopped buying milk glass. But I didn’t. And now we have more milk glass than we know what to do with (seriously, it’s bad, just take a gander).

I know we already have vases, but I was a woman obsessed by this point. Plus they were cheap.

Perfect for a dessert bar, no?

I have since come up with a solution that will allow us to include milk glass in our centerpieces without it looking crowded (hopefully), but I still will not end up using nearly half of our collection for the wedding. But, with most pieces costing between ten cents and one dollar (Mama Pony got the square cake stand for $1, unbelievable, right?), this is a collection that will continue to grow long after our wedding.

Anyone else collecting milk glass? What’s your favorite find?

A technical question: where on earth do you store it all?

Lindsay Lohan is totally going to sue you for the title of this blog post.

Kidding! Don’t sue me, Lindsay!

@Sunlavender: Love milk glass centerpieces, they are just so pretty
@Lone Star: Haha, it’s all stored in the basement at my father’s house on a very creepy shelf in the back corner of our laundry room. I was going to take a picture of it, but it’s not a pretty sight (I find dead bugs in there a lot) but it’s out of our way, so I’m not complaining!

@Miss Cannon: Hahaha! I thought of that when naming this post and totally did it just because of that ridiculous lawsuit. Bring it Lindsay! (also kidding!)

Great collection Pony! I’ve collected a few pieces for the tables at our RD but they aren’t as exciting as what you have!

Holy moly I can’t believe you got all those for soo cheap!! You must have good antique stores because the one little piece I found was like $10. Great job, Pony, can’t wait to see your solution!

Loving the milk glasses. And I am way excited because that first image you have there is from my florist that I have booked. She’s awesome!

WOW, that is some collection! I fell in love with milk glass vases too but realized after collecting a bunch that they just didn’t work with our overall look. So I sold them all to another bride…sad face

Well… I love milk glass, and I’m having the hardest time finding it around my home… so, if you ever feel like selling some after the wedding, I’d love to have that collection :) just sayin…

You have an amazing collection of milk glass! I love the square shaped vases. We also wound up using milk glass too, unfortunately I couldn’t find it for nearly as cheap as some of the bees are able to down in the US. It looked gorgeous though!
