Face paint, that is. More specifically known as makeup. Want to see a picture of Miss Ticket without makeup? Well, you have already seen quite a few of those, because I don’t wear makeup. I only wear it for very special occasions, and even then I don’t wear much.

This also means I don’t know much about makeup, and I really did want to wear some for special events like engagement pictures, bridal showers, and oh…the wedding! I needed some serious help. Sister Ticket has tried her best to teach me, but apparently I’m just super slow when it comes to this particular obstacle. Mr. Ticket jokes that I’m a “bad woman” for disliking makeup so much, yet he’s the first one to tell me I don’t need it. I know it makes me look better! I’m just LAZY. It costs money to buy, time to put on, time to reapply/touch up throughout the day, and time to take off at night. That’s time and money I would much rather spend on other things!
All my laziness aside, I did decide to put some time and money into making up my face before our engagement-photo shoot (more on that awesomeness later). I decided to go to the MAC counter at our local Macy’s and ask for help. The associate was extremely helpful and patient with me. She told me she was putting on very light makeup (which several of her fellow employees confirmed), though to my unknowledgeable lazy self it felt like I had 12 pounds of makeup on. I bought the pieces I knew I would need for touch-ups later that day (and that I liked enough to possibly use for date nights) and ventured out into a harsh Southern California afternoon praying my face wouldn’t melt before I got home to air conditioning.
Without further ado, I give you Miss Ticket made up:

In keeping with my pure amateur nature, that’s me with my made-up face against poor unsuspecting Mr. Ticket’s WHITE shirt. Epic. Fail. Me. Luckily he didn’t really care, ’cause he doesn’t like that shirt much anyway.

And a goofy closeup so you get a better idea of the eyeshadow situation. Yes, that is PF Changs in the background—we were scarfing it down as we got ready to head out for our engagement shoot.
So I would say my first experience with professional makeup was a success. Mr. Ticket and Mama Ticket liked it, and while I may have constantly touched my face, rubbed my eyes, and drunk out of water bottles out of my utter noobness, the makeup held up pretty well. The powder and lipstick/lip gloss I bought were just enough for a few minor touch-ups before pictures later that evening.
Did you find yourself having to learn a whole new skill set for your wedding? Am I the only 25-year-old on the planet who doesn’t wear makeup?
