A Shoe Snafu

August 11th, 2011 @ 1:46 pm by Mrs. High Wire

Once the girls had selected their dresses, it was time to move on to accessories. Since they all were in different dresses, I decided it would look best if they all wore matching shoes. Bridesmaid Sara joined me on a Monday night shoe search and we struck gold.

Enter, the Vince Camuto Kira Pump:

They are YUMMY.

I felt a little guilty asking them to pay for a very specific pair of shoes that they may not even like (even though I think it is probably one of the most perfect shoes ever made), so I’m covering half of the cost for each of them, after tax. In a perfect world, I’d pay for it all, but this is the best I can do, and I’m doing it.

We hit a little speed bump, however, when I sent the Facebook message to the girls giving them the information they’d need to go pick up the shoes. I wrote down the exact information I copied off of the shoe box in the store, but I accidentally sent a link from the designer’s website directing them to the wrong color:

A couple of nights ago, I got a frantic text from my MOH saying she thinks the wrong pair got delivered. That picture you see above is deceiving, and in real life, the “Storm” color looks like this:

Definitely not like the pair that Bridesmaid Sara tried on the day we found them:

My MOH is having them shipped back and picking up the correct color in-store just to be on the safe side.

Once this little issue gets finished, I’m so excited to see the girls get all fancy in their beautiful different dresses and these shoes.

What kind of shoes are your bridesmaids wearing?

I love those shoes! I wanted all my bridesmaids to have the same shoes too haha. I ended up finding the shoes I wanted for my bridesmaids on sale (score!) so I was able to buy them for them.

Mine wore the shoes of their choosing. I knew one would want flats and the other heels. The one who chose heels had her heel break while we were doing our “first look” so she actually wore my killer Badgley Mischka peep toe platform pumps that I bought for the rehearsal dinner. DH made a last second dash up to the room to get them for her. I was grateful that we had the big reveal out of the way so that he could do it.

Cute shoes, glad she found them in the correct color! I am not sure i will ever get why bridesmaids have to wear the same shoes. If the dresses are short, i can understand that, but if they are long, no one see’s them so what’s the big deal.

@sara: My girls are all in short dresses, so the shoes will definitely be on full display on the wedding day. I agree with you on it totally not mattering if everyone was wearing long dresses!

So Miss High Wire ~ since you’re asking your maids to wear the same shoes, are you purchasing the shoes for them? I’m wondering what to do about that. Awesome shoes BTW!

Love the shoes! Even though my girls were in non-matching dresses I just had them wear whatever shoe they wanted b/c I didn’t care and was so done with making decisions! But I really like those shoes and they’re going to look great!

BEAUTIFUL SHOES! I might need to snag a pair for our rehearsal :) Great choice, HW and that was awful sweet of you to pay for half the cost of those lovely bad boys!

No one will be looking at the bridesmaid’s shoes:) So I am letting all 11 of my bmaids wear whatever shoes they want.

@Eleven: Maybe its because I’m a bride but the last wedding I went to I totally noticed all the bridesmaids’ shoes because they were so mismatched…

Miss HW~ Thanks for answering my earlier question about paying half the cost, that helps! Also I agree with you that if the BM’s dresses are short, their style will look the most cohesive if their shoes are the same or very similar (i.e. all strappy silver heels or something like that, you get the point). As someone mildly interested in fashion I tend to notice stuff like that, and you really don’t want to look at your wedding pics in a few years and have some random pair of BM shoes glaring out at you!

I totally agree with you Miss HW! They have to have the same shoes if they are in short dresses. My BMs are in long dresses so it doesn’t matter. I’m just asking them to wear black close-toed heels :)
P.S. What did you last BM pick as her dress? I’m also doing different dresses for each BM and I’d love to see the complete look!

Love those shoes. I have such fears of ordering things online because of that very reason!

My girls are in long mis-matched Amsale dresses and they ended up costing way more than I was comfortable with them paying. (They all insisted they wanted those dresses no matter the cost.) So, they can wear whatever shoes they want! They won’t be seen anyway.

Good thing you caught the color issue early! That could have been a bigger mishap. I think those shoes are lovely. They are the perfect pump.
