It was the day after Christmas last year that I received a hesitant phone call. I think Bridesmaid Happy was a little nervous to tell me that she was expecting. I was ecstatic. It was the best news I had heard in a while. Although I was a little upset that she didn’t wait for me because we were totally supposed to have our babies at the same time. (BTW, Congratulations BM Happy on your new bundle of joy! He’s perfect!)

I didn’t worry about the pictures or the dress or the implications her joy would have on mine. I knew Happy had unknowingly picked a comfortable dress for a growing bump. I was excited to welcome another member of our wedding party. Oh yeah, and I LOVE BABIES!

My Uncle Joe had a little surprise in store for us while we took our formal portraits together. My uncle lives across the street from my parents, always has. I’d often come home late (or early depending on your perception) from accidentally falling asleep at Zeb’s to see him in this very window. My uncle caught me by surprise several times peeking out of the pane, and today was no exception. He’s a jokester that uncle of mine! Everyone thought he was naked but I knew better.

I’ll spare you the entire lot of the formal portraits with the bridal party and my parents. I did want to mention how important it is to find a photographer with a creative eye. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve driven down the street, not even realizing the beauty in the yard next to my parents. I never in a million years thought I would be taking photos there, but Sara Zarrella sure saw something beautiful. When it comes to photographers, it’s personality and eye all the way, and Sara had the whole package.
