Mrs. Prairie Dog's Picture
Mrs. Prairie Dog, Cincinnati Age and Occupation: 24, Program Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, PhD/Biomedical Engineer Engagement Date: December 18, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Glendale Lyceum About Me: I'm a pilgrim soul of a girl with a house full of books and a coffee addiction that could slay Juan Valdez. My life is a whirl of grammar correction, good music, glue-gunning, and two pets named Hazel and Winston Churchill. I'm marrying my high school boyfriend in a formal-ish spring affair, roughly themed: "Elizabeth Bennet crashes a party co-hosted by Jay Gatsby and Cath Kidston, and loves it."
About Mrs. Prairie Dog

Step 1: Make friends with crazy people and convince them to be in your wedding party.

Step 2: Book a stretch Lincoln Navigator for the ride to the ceremony and then to the reception.

Step 3: While in said stretch Nav, provide libations for those who wish to partake. Laugh encouragingly at those who do and agree that yes, your new husband should absolutely double-fist his beverages.

Step 4: Pump bass-filled music into the stretch Nav as it idles outside of the reception. Talk a big game about your own entrance to create a feeling of high standards and one-upmanship.

Step 5: Select an undeniably danceable entrance song. We chose the seminal classic Down, by Jay Sean.

Step 6: Tell them that their audience is already clapping in anticipation,

and has been making use of this aspect of the reception:

Step 7: Push those baby birds out of their stretch Nav nest. SET THEM FREE.

So maybe the first three are going stay dapper and comically solemn despite the cheers.

…Nope.

Really nope:

These two also considered playing it cool:

But then this happened: the full-on dancer’s twirl, side of step-touching.

Aaand finish it out.

Meanwhile, the audience felt approximately like this about the entrances:

And, though the bar was set high, the hits just kept on coming:

…and coming…

…and coming.

Until finally it was time for us. With the guests revved up from the dramatic party entrances, I can’t even describe how loud the cheers were. It completely overwhelmed me, and I almost got shy about it.

But then it was bidness time, and, honestly, we got down like the economy.

People kind of like it when the bride and groom lay their dignity on the dance floor.

And thus began our wedding reception.
