Fate brought us together, and now we live in a cute little rental house with our nutty dog, and our aloof cat. We both love to read, watch movies, explore our town, and laugh like hyenas. Hi!
About Mrs. Ladyfingers

The dress is being hemmed and tucked. The shoes are safely hidden away on a top closet shelf. My jewelry has arrived.

Oh, yeah. Check out my bracelet.

I spent agonizing hours searching for the perfect jewelry.

I looked at necklace after necklace. I considered clip-on earrings for my non-pierced ears, or converting regular earrings to do the job. Finally, after deciding against none of those, I scoured Etsy and divided my finds into 3 categories: gold and delicate, rhinestone bling factory, and this subset of floral collage cuffs. Etsy seller TattyChic whipped this design up in one night, hive, and made it live, and shipped it in just one more night. I’m so, so happy, and consider it a good choice when I have to restrain myself from donning something before the wedding.

Anyway. Now that I’ve made all my attire purchases and collected hair and makeup inspiration pics to discuss with my stylist at our September trial, I’m left with a big fat burning question: Does my hair piece still work with this look?

First…

OK. The hairpiece: I bought it with the dress in January. It was kind of an impulse buy, because the consultant put it on my head and, together with the dress, the vision clouded my judgment a bit. It’s not that I don’t love it. It’s just that I bought it before my vision was fully formed, and now I’m not sure it fits with everything else.

Here’s a mini inspiration board showing my dress, shoes, and bracelet, along with some leading hair and makeup inspiration pics.

Now, the offending hairpiece.

It’s not that I don’t love it. I really do, and it’s exactly what I want in my hair the day of — sort of. My concern is the feathers make it a bit too modern or glam — or even too “Old Hollywood” — for the “romantic garden” look I’ve built with everything else. However, it does have some small rhinestones and pearls, so it echoes elements of the bracelet and the shoes, too. And, I don’t know… feathers, birds, gardens. It might work. Perhaps I’m being picky.

So, what do you think, hive?

Honestly? On a scale of 1-5 i think its a 4. I think it goes well but it could be better. I still like feathers but I think its just the shape of the pier that looks a bit modern, not the fact that its actually feathers. Having said that, you don’t seem 100% on it anyway, so I think you should look for something you LOVE. and you what, at least you have this as a back up incase you don’t find anything else that shouts at you

The hair piece is the only part of your look that doesn’t say “timeless.” Is it pretty? obviously!

I think a flower by itself would look great. It would coordinate with your bracelet and tone down the “glam” factor you mentioned. Personally I’m not a huge fan of feathers so I am a little biased. :)

Absolutely love that bracelet! As for the hairpiece, I am not so much a fan.

I think it looks great even though I’m not a huge fan of feathers myself. Ultimately, the decision is up to you and you should go with whatever makes you the happiest. I’m wearing a regular hair flower myself so I think that’d be a great option as well for you.

Maybe a large chiffon flower with some rhinestones would work better with your bridal style? I bet you could find a beautiful one on etsy or even make one yourself!

I was going to comment, birds…gardens…but you beat me to it! I think it will look fine and you are over-thinking it. I could just die for that bracelet!! Sooo sooo pretty!

I am probably TOTALLY overthinking it. Part of me also doesn’t want to have to buy anything else after already buying this one (since I bought it at the bridal shop it was stupid expensive for what it is). I may end up waiting and seeing if anything else grabs me… but your opinions are awesome and I really want to hear how drastic you guys think this is.

Wow, that was a tough choice but I agree, the feathers are not quite tying in with the rest of your look, but then again it stands out which is what you want from a headpiece isnt it? Im pretty undecided and it seems so is the hive!

    Love the bracelet!

Looks like it’s a close vote so far, but I really like the hairpiece! I guess if you go with something similar only without the flowers, I could understand that. And what color is it exactly? Is it very white?
