Parent Trap Anyone?

August 18th, 2011 @ 2:43 pm by Mrs. Ticket

We last left off with my dramatic post about ear piercings. So, let’s continue on with that in mind.

Determined to get freshly punched holes in my ears before I came to my senses and changed my mind, I forged on to the mall.  As I walked down the sidewalk looking in the store windows, I saw Claire’s in the distance. I knew they did piercings, yet as I walked closer, visions of teenage shop workers danced in my head. There is no way I was letting a 16 year old get anywhere near my ears with a piercing gun!

I wanted the new holes punched over the light, leftover indentations of the old holes, and it would’ve been great if there were an adult nearby to do that. As I approached Claire’s, I saw their piercing station was conveniently set up right outside their door practically calling my name. So, I walked up and started looking at the earrings they had to offer. I nonchalantly glanced over at the cash register to see a guy about my age behind the counter with earrings of his own, and I found a bit more comfort in my decision to come.

I moseyed over to the counter (yes I said moseyed, I’m like 80 years old) and asked the guy if he was doing piercings. After signing my life away on multiple forms I sat and waited for him as he sterilized himself with a prudence I doubt most surgeons use before cutting people open.

He swabbed my earlobes with rubbing alcohol and pointed out where the new holes will be (right over the old holes, even though they weren’t totally even) and the moment of truth was upon us…

I prepared myself… it had been a while but I was sure it was going to hurt. And then…THE PINCH!! Wait, was that it? I hardly felt anything! I was half tempted to grab my ear and ensure he actually pierced it, but I didn’t want him to think I was nuts so I just waited as he moved to the other ear.

That was easy. Now I just get to clean them three  times a day for 6 weeks and I can start wearing pretty earrings. I vow to myself here and now that I WILL keep these holes open and earring-wearable until October!

I know you all just love these random pictures of my ears. (Personal Photo)

It’s just one more thing to check off the pre-wedding to do list.

Anyone else find a major sense of relief when a task they sort of dreaded doing turned out to be total cake?

O.M.G. You are braver than I am. I have only ever pierced my cartilage and after that I will never pierce anything again! ;)

@Mrs. Meerkat:
cartilage is worse than a lobe peircing. I’ve had to have it done twice and the healing SUCKED! Lobes you barely feel. I had my holes from when I was a baby and got second holes when I was 14 and it was no biggy.

Hmm you’ve inspired me! I had my second holes done about 5 years ago but they closed up on me. Now I’m thinking of repiercing over the closed holes.

I have 4 holes in each ear! I got my first when I was a few weeks old, and then once I was old enough to take care of them, my mom took me for my second, then third, then I randomly got my fourth one day at the mall

lol I went through similar experice at Claire’s this week… I even got a sticker and lollipop!! Was dreading it but have bought beautful earrings for my big day so had to go through with it after letting my holes close over a decade ago… must say though the cost has gone up considerably from 198?? but well worth it!!

I have 7 piercings… Yeah, 7. Three in my lobes, nose, Monroe, tragus… And on a whim, one of my ladies. (OUCH!)
I could keep going, but everyone, FI included, is begging me to stop! So I got a small tattoo instead… Haha
All my piercings are staying in for the wedding, too!
