What type of entertainment did we provide at our reception? Remember how Brother Hot Wings insisted on doing Deal or No Deal and I was all kinds of skeptical?
I can report that he pulled out a pretty epic Deal or No Deal: Wedding Edition! Epic, friends..epic! He even got Papa Hot Wings to put up the money for the actual prize! Super score.
Brother Hot Wings, Mr Hot Wings, and Cousin Hot Wings put together these materials for each table. Instead of using models with suitcases as the show uses, we used red envelopes with table numbers. Each table represented one suitcase. Each table also got a packet of Deal/No Deal paddles. One side read Deal and the other, No Deal.
Each envelope had the game description and instructions for each table to pick one representative to open the envelope when called.
As the game begun, Brother Hot Wings had us pick our case. We picked 21 because we got married on the 21st.
Then we picked a couple more cases to open. Each time we picked a case, the table rep opened the case and revealed the amount that we could no longer win.
As we picked cases and amounts were revealed, the banker, aka Cousin Hot Wings, entered the corresponding numbers into his specifically created Deal or No Deal excel file. Brother Hot Wings had created an algorithm for the Bank’s Offer depending on the number of cases remaining and the amounts still left on the board.
When the banker made the offer, Brother Hot Wings asked the audience what they thought we should do. Deal or No Deal? That’s when everyone put their Deal or No Deal paddles to use. It was pretty fun to see the sea of paddles go up every round.
After a couple rounds, my dad started getting nervous. He came up on stage to try to make us an extra offer to get us to stop. After all, it was his bank account that would be shelling out the prize. It definitely didn’t work. We stuck to our game plan!
After several more rounds, we started to get nervous. Brother Hot Wings started getting more people involved. He went down to Mr Hot Wing’s grandma to ask her what we should do. Grandma said to take the deal.
And with Grandma’s blessing, Mr. Hot Wings said, “you can’t argue with grandma. Deal!”
