Friends in High Places

August 19th, 2011 @ 3:50 pm by Mrs. Macarons

After several of our invitations went M.I.A we expected a few tardy responses but not nearly as many as we got. (Shame on you Macarons guests!) I assumed our mailbox would be overflowing with RSVPs on our deadline but we got nothing, save for one lonely envelope. I let out a large sigh as I reached inside for what I thought was just another piece of junk mail.

It might be a little hard to make out but it was from our friends on Capitol Hill!

Since we heard back from The Mice early on I’d completely forgotten about sending one to the White House. Let me just say I wish my cursive was this pretty; whoever addresses envelopes in the Greetings Office sure has some lovely handwriting. Inside was a flat printed piece of card stock with an embossed seal at the top.

I’m so glad we took the time to send out a few VIP invitations. In case you’re interested, you can mail yours to the following address:

The White House, Greetings Office, Room 39

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW

Washington, District of Columbia

20502

There’s no guarantee you’ll hear back but sending them out right around the six month mark seems to increase your chances. Already married but expecting? Send a birth announcement as I think they do something special for that as well.

Miss Macarons, I totally had the same thoughts about the addressing on my envelope! I haven’t heard back from the mice yet, which I find ironic (Disneyland taking longer than the Gov’t? HUH? haha)

I got mine hanging on my desk! My friends thought I was so dumb when I told them I was inviting the Obama’s until they saw my card..then they were all jealous!

I wish we had mailed our invites out early enough to invite some VIPs! So cool you heard back from the Obamas!

They print these cards for things like Eagle Scouts, Gold Awards, retirements, monumental birthday and anniversaries, etc. also. Pretty much anything you can buy a card for!

I work at a Presidential Library and it’s interesting to see how little they have changed in a few decades…kind of neat! I should get mine out soon…I may have just found a purpose for my mockup invite haha

How cool is that! I was wondering why everyone was sending them invites - I was thinking isn’t that a waste of an expensive invite - so who are the other VIP’s besides the Mice? :)

Fun! I’m sad, the Queen and Wills & Kate never RSVPed to me. :(

We invited the mice too, gosh they were quick to reply - even to Australia.

Nice. Good point about the birth announcement too. I have one from Ronald Reagan.

I hope our invitations aren’t ridiculously expensive so we can order extras to send to Mickey, Minnie, Barack, and Michelle!

@hisbahamamama: We sent out three total. 1 to the president, and 1 to each of the Disney parks. I also made an extra set to be photographed with the rest of our printed pieces on our wedding day. The invitations were relatively inexpensive since I made them myself.
