When I got to my bridal suite, I immediately stripped down. I was racing to get ready and make it in time to meet my groom for our first look. My future sister-in-law and my maid of honor dropped everything, and held open my gown so that I could hop in!
They pulled it up, and all I can remember saying is, “Tighter! Pull it as tight as it will go!”

Meanwhile, my bridesmaids started piling in the room and putting their things down; I was still grinning about the chiavari chairs. This was such a significant moment in the day because as you know (being the girl who cried dress), I went through a lot to get this gown and I was thrilled to finally put it on.

I seriously could not stop grinning, either! As each one of my bridesmaids walked in the room, I remember looking up with excitement. I don’t think it had hit (many) of them that this was my wedding day; not until now, when they finally got to see me in my dress. My mom, step mom, and Mr. Brooch’s mom were all beginning to get equally as giddy and glossy-eyed!
This was my wedding! Ahh!
Still, with the excitement, there was one persistent thought on this bride’s mind: can it get any tighter?
Pull girls! Pull!
I have to admit that looking back on these photos, I cannot help but feel proud of myself for all my diet and exercise efforts. I didn’t get down to my “goal weight,” but I came pretty darn close and that’s such a great feeling! Everyone, including my mom was extremely proud, especially knowing how heavy I used to be!
My bridesmaids were super proud of me, too!
Once I got into the dress, I proceeded to do a little happy dance… I had to make sure it was snug!
“It’s finally here and I’m excited!” Woo hoo!
Apparently, this little clap is a signature move of mine, but I didn’t know it until I looked through my wedding pictures with a few friends who pointed it out! You’ll see this clap a lot more as recaps go on!
“I’m so ready!”
“… and I still can’t believe Mr. Brooch surprised me with chiavari chairs!”
How did you feel when you put on your wedding dress? Did the excitement sink in?
