About Mrs. Teaspoon

My Poor Little Tootsies

August 20th, 2011 @ 11:20 am by Mrs. Teaspoon

In theory, on our wedding day we will be spending some time sitting—driving to the church, driving to the reception, on the golf buggies going to take photos, eating dinner, listening to speeches, driving to our hotel. However, I am guessing that I will not want to sit down all day, judging from our engagement party when I spent the entire evening chatting away with all our friends and family. I was not used to knowing so many people in a small area; I didn’t have a clue who to talk to! All that equals a lot of time on my tootsies, so I’ll want some super comfy shoes!

I already have my official wedding shoes: the ones I will wear down the aisle, for our first dance, for pictures and for the majority of the day. However, when I was out the other night standing around I realised that my feet often get sore in high heels. My wedding shoes are high heels. I intend on doing a lot more dancing after our first dance. Do you see where im going with this? Flats are required, STAT. Even if I don’t wear them, it will be good to have an alternative in case of sore footsies.

Now, there is the problem: they will look a little less special than my fancy blue wedding shoes!

I love me a good flat, don’t get me wrong, but I just feel like heels make an outfit special! They are 100 times more flattering, that’s for sure, and they take any outfit from casual to dressy. (OK, maybe not your jim jams!)

OK, are you ready for another dress hint? This is somewhat expected, but my dress extends to the floor, so you pretty much won’t actually be able to see my shoes except for when I walk around. Still, that doesn’t mean that I can’t completely obsess about every flat shoe that I think is either bridal, or sparkly, or just cool. I need to prepare myself for the amount of dancing I intend on doing!

So, I headed for the nearest shoe shop to find me some flats (yes, the nearest shoe shop is online! - bonus, I’m already there!).

Are they the most gorgeous bridal flats in the world? They definitely have the price tag to match, and whilst the Aussie dollar against the pound is quite good, it’s not good enough to justify over $250 on a second pair of shoes plus shipping! I’m not even sure they would get here in time, actually!

What about with some pretty sparkle? I originally saw these on Miss Parasol’s post of a few weeks ago and it really got me thinking about how pretty flats can be!

The other thing is that I don’t just need some flats for myself—I also think my bridesmaids will be in desperate need of foot relief after a very very long day!

Are you a two shoe bride? If you’ll be slipping into flats, what do they look like?

I actually almost bought a pair of Crocs heels but they didn’t have white or blue! I ended up just slipping on my flip flops from earlier that day. I’ve seen some wedding photos with brides wearing white glitter Tom’s as well which I think is really cute.

My mom got me a pair of blue sparkly flats from Kohls last year for Christmas so those will be my second pair, unless I decide to bust out the flip flops.

I’ll end up getting/having a pair of low-heeled shoes, but not flats. I have amazing grace in heels, but put me in flats and I’m a clutz…. and I tend to trip a lot in anything that doesn’t have a heel to them.
Unless of course, I find a pair of heels I can walk around outside on grass in without falling… which is do-able if they’re wide-heeled shoes.

I had a really nice pair of royal blue heels as my wedding shoes and I didn’t want to lose the awesome feeling of having an amazing pair of blue shoes. I found a pair of royal blue satin flats with pearls on them from zappos.com here is the link.http://www.zappos.com/me-too-lilium-royal-blue-satin and the good part is their only like $75.

i have pretty high heels and for the same reason as you I’m looking for some dancing flats… but people keep telling me its a bad idea because my dress will drag on the ground since it will be hemmed to be the right length for the heels. Is that an issue with your dress? I reaaalllyyy don’t think I can handle my heels the whole night (and I love them too much to just abandon them altogether). Maybe I’m just being silly though?

Hey just a word of caution - steve madden shoes are TERRIBLY uncomfortable! Even the flats… there are other sparkley flats from other companies that are much better. I have a pair from chinese laundry (and they were cheaper than SM at DSW) and they totally rock!

I’m wearing flats all night because I’m already 6′. I’m having an awful time finding flats that come in a big enough size (so many designers stop at 10!) that are formal enough for my event. I really should tackle the shoe issue next…it’s going to be a long uphill battle to find the right ones!

I am also wearing flatts :) A. they are flat and my fiancee is only maybe 4-5 inches taller than me and I definitely wanted the difference of me being shorter than him. B. I will be walking in grass and didnt want heels to sink into…disaster.waiting.to.happen. However I am highly considering some wedges or just really awesome heels for the bridal pics and other pics. We shall see :) For now though here are my pretty white flatts!

@zippitydoodah: I’m having the exact same dilemma! What do two-shoe brides do??

@HelloKittyEsq:

Good, I’m not the only one! My dress hasn’t come in yet so I guess I can ask when I’m getting it fitted and hemmed, but I figured SOMEONE else out there has to have experienced this problem!

Those pearl shoes are “amazeballs”! but you’re right…not for that price. I started thinking about another pair of shoes since I have very high hells. I fell in love with a pair of Lucchese cowboy boots, but they’re $520…do I dare?

So my heels are 4.5 inches. I will definitely not last more than a few hours in them. But like others have said, I am really concerned about dragging my dress if I changed into flats.

Solution? Platform/wedge flip flops! They give me the comfort without sacrificing too much height. They are not the cutest but I assuming all of the formal pictures will be done by this point.

@bijou214:

I did think about that as well. The only photos that my shoes will be in are where I want them to be in (I of course want photos of my shoes!), so I’m not too worried about later in the night. I’m not sure if I can even handle those when my feet will be so sore, but it’s better than nothing I guess!

Flats were a must have for me, I know my feet will be aching in heels even though I’m breaking them in!

No flats for me, but I love that you’re getting really bridal looking flats. I can’t wait to see what you end up with!

Up until the wedding itself I swore that I would be wearing my heels all day and night - Ive done it before, so it wasnt that much of a stretch. But, despite this insistence, my mom bought a pair of sparkly wedge flip flops “just in case.” And THANK GOODNESS. The moment our special dances were done I practically ran to change into the flip flops. I liked them a lot more than I had anticipated too, the rhinestones were just enough bling when they peeked out beneath my dress and they only set my mom back like $30 (and are available online lots of places!).

I’ll wear my pretty blue heels as long as I can, but then I’ll change into a simple pair of white wedge flip flops I bought for $7 from Victoria Secret. My heels are 3 1/2 inches and the flip flops are 1 1/2 inches, so I won’t drag my dress too much and they’ll still be super comfy.
