About Ms. Ferris Wheel

Lobe Indecision

August 21st, 2011 @ 1:40 pm by Ms. Ferris Wheel

My thoughts about wedding day earrings were along the same lines as everything else when it comes to this wedding: “I’m not sure what I’m looking for, but I don’t think this is it. I’m certain I’ll know it when I see it.” I’ve concocted a fuzzy mental image of the earrings I’m looking for, but as far as I can tell they’re not anything that’s ever been manufactured in the history of the world. Freaking out that my indecision would result in bare lobes, I sucked it up and bought some earrings that I knew weren’t “perfect” but would probably be “perfectly suitable.” Today they came in, and they’re quite lovely.

Generally jewelry isn’t really my thing, but I love earrings and I like them BIG. So I’m just not sure these baubles are as… ostentatious? distinctive? statement-y? as I want them to be.

{ignore the post-gym attire and just focus on the bling}

At this point, though, I’ve exhausted all of my best interwebz researcher skills. I just don’t know where else to look, which means these might be my final decision by default. So indecisive…

Hive, help me out! Do you know of a place I could look for big sparkly earrings?

Have you tried Charming Charlie? They have all kinds of nifty stuff, and it’s a little more grown-up looking than what you’d find at Claire’s without being stuffy or boring.

I’m going to second Charming Charlie or Sam Moon - not sure which one (if either) they have in your neck of the woods, but I’d look in costume jewelry stores. They have pretty wedding-y jewelry and then they have bold, funky stuff, and it’s pretty inexpensive since a lot of it is “trendy” type pieces.

google for sf jewelry shows. a wholesale district downtown?

honestly- pageant girls have rhinestoned earrings custom made all the time- call a pageant boutique.

for a diy version- if it’s the black and white rhinestones you are wanting, and you can find it in all white, you can sharpie the stones you want black. it works with any color of sharpie, and is removable with acetone. insider trick. :)

How about glitzy secrets? I love, love a lot of their jewellery. If you find something you like I’m sure they would ship to the US. http://www.glitzysecrets.com/earrings.html?all=all (I’m a little obsessed with the “forties darling earrings” but unfortunately they were sold out until recently and my wedding is in less than a week so alas, no glitzy secrets for me).

And here is a black pair, http://www.glitzysecrets.com/dramatic-statement-earrings.html

The ones you’ve got are really lovely though if you don’t find something you like better!

Have you tried that Dress Rush website that was here on Weddingbee a few days ago. They have huge Tejani earrings. I would also try emitations.

I might have found a couple that could work.

There are a few pairs from this site you might like. And they are under $10 each.

Hope it helps.

I would try a line a jewelry called Nadri is sold at Nordstrom’s they use all Swarovski crystals and there really sparkly not like the cheap stuff you find everywhere else. You can also find some pieces on QVC there is nothing wrong with these pieces this is where I bought mu bracelets for my wedding. QVC can offer better pricing because they order a larger quantity. Just me when you see this line in person nothing else will then compare!

Girl, I’m having the same problem but with earrings and necklaces. Keep looking if you’re not 100% on them, you’ll find the perfect pair!

I don’t know how the antique/flea market/thrifting is in your area but that might be an option, if you have spare time (haha!)

Yay for the double earring! I think you should try the earrings out with your hair piece to deem if they are big enough. I guess you don’t want to overwhelm your dress/hair on the W-day. Check things out together and see if they are flashy enough for you then. I do like them a lot!

I would probably Etsy it up and ask for something custom to satisfy your boldness if you want something different. :)

I actually like them because they remind me of your FW logo, but that’s hardly reason to keep them. I say keep a casual eye out for something else, but don’t stress about it.

1928 has really pretty, sparkly jewelry with a vintage twist. They have a bridal line, but they also have a bunch of other jewelry with color too. They’re pretty inexpensive and have sales online pretty often. I love big sparkly earrings too! Good luck finding your perfect pair!

I actually really like those ones, but keep searching if you’re not sure!
