My Flavor of the Week

August 22nd, 2011 @ 11:32 am by Miss Petit Four

My latest obsession has lately been ideas for outfitting my bouquet. There are so many pretty things you can do with the handle of the darn thing, I’m not sure how I’m going to pick which one I really want.

First, the classic ribbon & bow.

Nice, simple, understated and classic. It’s just not me, though.

The next thing I came across was the handle wrapped in lace.

Oooooo, so pretty! And it goes well with our “Vintage Beach Chic” theme.

Then I saw this…

Yep! That’s a hankie wrapped around the stems!

I. Die.

I love this idea so much and since I will be attempting (and hopefully successfully executing) our save the dates on hankies, I think this idea is perfect!

I will most likely go with something more like this for my bouquet, though.

Perhaps my new last initial monogrammed in blue? And maybe we’ll throw on a starfish brooch for good measure, since we will be on the beach and all.

Too much, you think? Yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and buy it anyways cause it’s $9 at Sears.

Hopefully all the thought and planning I am putting into the details will make our wedding look amazing in the pictures. I really believe that even if I am the only one who notices them, it will make me feel so good to see my plans come to fruition.

What special touches are you thinking of adding to your bouquet?

Geez! I was originally just planning on going with Ribbon because I didn’t know other options existed! Now I have something to think about!

I hope to use some fabric from my mom’s wedding dress to wrap around my bouquet. STD hankies is a really fun idea!

Aww, I <3 the hankies!

Miss Sunhat, the idea of using fabric from your mom’s dress is really sweet too!

I am incorporating my rosary and the little Bible that the women on FI’s side of the family have included in their bouquets for over a century.

I had my father’s wedding ring tied around my bouquet - he passed away when I was 19. When I walked up the aisle with my mum I put my finger through the ring to privately include his memory.

I love the lace and the hankie. I went with ribbon and one of my grandmother’s brooches.

I love the lace! I wonder if it’s too late to add that to my bouquet…. :)

A set of silver coins linked together is traditionally part of a Filipino wedding ceremony. My mom is letting me use hers to wrap around the stems of my bouquet. It’ll be also my ’something borrowed.’

The lace is really cute, as is the hankie! I using twine to wrap my bouquet because it’s very rustic, and I love how it looks. I also have a parasol charm, of course. :)

I’m doing a hankie wrap as well! My mother saved one of my great-grandmother’s nice lacy handkerchiefs after she passed away, storing it away for my wedding someday, and she gave it to me after FI and I got engaged! It’ll be a special way to have the only great-grandparent I knew with me on my wedding day.

Pretty pretty! Also, you can never have too much sparkle. Or starfish.

The starfish is a great idea! Go for it. I’m making a charm bracelet of meaningful things to me and attaching it to my bouquet.

@Kat: What a great way to remember your dad.
@SadieBee: How awesome that your mom kept that for you!

We did the lace option - tried to use a hankie, but I was scared it’d get damaged, since it was one of my great grandma’s!

I love this idea…is it too much to have more than one hankie?

The hive is here to make sure all your small details get noticed and amplified and glorified!! I love these ideas and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
