Something Borrowed

August 22nd, 2011 @ 9:21 am by Mrs. Teaspoon

Recently a friend mentioned a small accessory that I am more than excited about—the borrowed bag!

I was so happy when my friend C offered to lend me the bag for our wedding. You see, it’s amazing how the small things mean so much. I was automatically the next bride to be able to use the bag; it was more of an “I’ll have to drop the bag off to you” statement.

This bag has been used by four brides (that I know about—I should definitely check on that) and here she is in all her glory being sported by none other than our best man’s nearest and dearest, E:

The owner of the borrowed item was the first to use it, and she was married 5 years ago.

It then had quite a rest until 2009, when it was used by bride L, then in 2010 brides L and K used it, and now in 2011 it will be used by bride S—that’s me!!! Next year in 2012 it will be passed onto another bride, and hopefully after that it will be passed on to a few more brides.

So, let’s see these lovely ladies! I almost got us all in one picture:

Left to right: E, Bride L (2009, obviously at her wedding!), S, K (in black), Bride C (in black and white stripes), Bride L (2010) and in the bottom right of the picture is me!

Here’s another picture  from the same wedding, including Bride K in this one again.

Of course I was too excited at home not to snap a quick shot of the bag close up!!

Do you have any traditions amongst your friends that you’ll be carrying on in your wedding?

I’m friends with a pair of sisters (they were 2 of my 3 bridesmaids!) and when the first got married years ago she used a birdcage as her card box. Then her sister used it 2 years later, then me, then our friend D, then our friend A, then bride J…So 6 brides so far.

That’s so cool! I wish there was something like this going around my circle of friends. I am borrowing my grandmother’s pearl necklace from my mom, so that’s pretty exciting. :)

@Miss Honey: The sad part is Bride L won’t be able to make it as they are currently in London! I will be skyping her the morning of the wedding though. Other bride L (married in 2012) wont be there either = thank goodness for SKYPE!

I’m the first of my friends to get married. But we’ve started a new tradition with me that they are excited to continue. They made me a bridezilla sash and put my most ridiculous nickname on it. We’re replacing the name for the next bride and she’ll have it for her wedding planning time. Silly, but very fitting for my girls and our shenanigans.
