Don't Mind the Gap...or Do You? : wedding isla mujeres rings Picture+1 (source)

So, here’s a picture of my ring…well, technically its a picture of the stock ring from Tiffany’s, but who’s keeping track, really? I love my ring, but when it comes to finding a wedding ring to go with it, none of them sit flush.

This really bothered me at first, but now I think its something I could get used to. I’m thinking I want one on each side, just to keep with the symmetry, ya know?

Do you have the problem with the ’dreaded gap’? Do any of y’all have halo rings? What are you using for a wedding ring?

THAT’S MY RING, TOO! I didn’t mind the gap at all, but definitely didn’t like the assymmetry. So, we got a ring guard/enhancer thingy (I can never get the name right!) from Apex Jewels online http://www.apexjewels.com/diamond-ring-guard-14k-white-gold-wedding-engagement-band-1-4-carat.html??utm_source=thefind0720&utm_medium=allproducts&utm_campaign=ALL. We just had to do a tiny widening to get my engagement ring to fit in the back, but it was a painless and quick procedure (two days and 80 bucks), and it’s perfect! I’m not allowed to wear them together yet, or I’d show you how pretty it is :)

I want one on each side, since I have a halo. FI almost fainted when he heard this, haha…double the bling AND be symmetrical. Your rings are beautiful! That band is exactly what I would want.

Sorry but I dislike the look of mismatched rings. I like a set to look like one big ring instead of two rings that happen to be on the same finger. I will have to do something custom for my ring since the e-ring is custom and has unique edging.

Mine is flush, and I’m actually antsy to reset it to create a gap. There’s something about the look of the mismatch that I’m loving lately!

I have the same issue with my rings. I hope I get used to them…

Your ring is gorgeous! I have a halo, and got two wedding bands (one for each side). I managed to find bands by Simon G that curved/fit around the base of my e-ring. I wanted something that looked like it belonged together, like a “set.” Good luck!

I have a small gap between my rings and I think it looks ok still. I want one on both sides also, but for now I just have 1. I love the idea of the ring guard but it just wasn’t right for me (I needed to be able to wear my wedding ring alone when working).

My band matches my e-ring so there is no gap but do not plan on fusing them together. A band on each side of yours would look pretty cool I think!

I love your ring! My e-ring is a wide band with a solitaire that doesn’t extend over any part of the bend (if that makes sense) and wedding ring is a thing channel set band. So there’s no gap, but they’re not part of a set (it’s my mom’s e-ring and a new wedding band), and the mismatch aggravates me - the e-ring is a comfort fit, and the other is not. So I’ll like end up just wearing my wedding band, maybe my e-ring on my right hand, or just my e-ring and wedding band together for special occasions. My e-ring is so wide anyway, the whole shebang goes up to my knuckle!

I think I am going to go with something like this to avoid the gap. My engagement ring is a cushion cut set in a TIffany Novo style setting.

I do have a halo ring, but it’s so tall that my wedding band sits flush against it. My e-ring is a white gold band with the halo stones, but my wedding ring is sterling silver, with etched flowers, leaves, and vines. I wanted something with interest that I could wear on its own, just in case I ended up not wearing my set.

However, I tried a day with my e-ring and nearly stroked out. I don’t like not wearing them together - it feels wrong.

@Whitney:

Excuse me, “without my e-ring”

Ohhh… I am not a huge fan of halo rings. However, if I had a Tiffany engagment ring, I wouldn’t care about anything else!!

I have my grandmother’s ring, and it is a very similar setting/shape, but it came with the matching band with a notch so it sits flush. However, I like to have something of my own for our wedding band so I got a simple channel-set band and I have the option of wearing the wedding band alone, having a gap or wearing it with the matching wedding band (that creates a straight edge) and no gap. I love options!

What a gorgeous ring! I dont have a gap. My ring sits very high though, so the wedding ring slips right underneath it.

Gorgeous ring! I think a gap would drive me crazy, but it looks just fine in the photo.

I just love the Emerald cut! I wouldn’t worry about the band… it’ll come to you as you are searching.

I have a split shank tacori ring, and I tried on a bunch of bands with the “gap” and personally, it didn’t work for me. I didn’t like the gap! But, of course, this is totally a personally preference :) If you like the gap, embrace it!

For those who don’t like a gap I had a band custom made/fitted to avoid it, and I didn’t think it was badly priced, and I LOVE how it looks :)
