Ms. Gazelle, Calgary/Vancouver Age and Occupation: 32, Engineer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Technology Analyst Engagement Date: September 3, 2010 Wedding Date: July 2011 Venue: Brock House Restaurant, Vancouver About Me: I am a marathon runner, cyclist, Ironman triathlete and beautiful shoe fiend who also loves kicking back and watching Glee. I grew up a bit of a nomad as I traveled around the world with my family, living everywhere from Australia to England to South America and Indonesia. I finally settled in Calgary a few years ago and met Mr. Gazelle who loves me even though we cheer for different hockey teams. We are planning a bit of a destination wedding in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia and we can’t wait to share the day with our close family and friends.
About Ms. Gazelle

Something that I was never able to share with the Hive before the wedding were our finished bridesmaids’ dresses. My mom, being the awesome seamstress that she is, offered to make the dresses for our girls. We settled upon Butterick B5322 for MOH-T:

And for BM-D, she would get the strapless version of Simplicity 4070.

My mom would adjust the skirt of the patterns to include box pleats similar to our Alfred Sung inspiration dresses.

You guys, Mama Gazelle was awesome and amazing. She made several treks out to Calgary (a 7 hour drive one way) to fit the dresses on the girls to ensure that the girls would feel beautiful and that the dresses would fit perfectly. Plus, not only was she making the two bridesmaid dresses, she was making our Flower Girl’s dress and her own dress. She had to pull a couple of all nighters the week of the wedding to finish everything off, but at the end of the day everyone looked so beautiful.

First up, our super cute and adorable niece as our Flower Girl:

Next up BM-D:

And finally MOH-T:

Even though the girls could pick any shoes they wanted (except preferably not black) they both chose the Dasa from Nine West in pewter satin.

Mama Gazelle then made a tie for each dress in a matching fabric to the shoes.

I think the girls looked amazing and their dresses fit them so well. Many thanks to Mama Gazelle for all of the hard work that she put in. It definitely paid off!

Did your bridesmaids order their dresses or are you having them made?

Those dresses are amazing! If you hadn’t said your mum had made them I’d assume they were designer/purchased. She does excellent work!

Beautiful! What an amazing mama :) I wanted an affordable option for my maids that was both wedding chic but also truely “re-wearbale” so I picked these from Kohls….not bridesmaid dresses at all, but I think they do the trick!

I think those are the best homemade formal dresses I have ever seen in a real wedding. Awesome! I made a few prom dresses growing up, but I don’t want the stress of sewing anything major for weddings.

I wanted to have them made, but my MOH flat out refused to pay for it, and then one BM moved to CA so it would have been difficult for to have any fittings.
