Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager Engagement Date: March 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: The Tribute Golf Club About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
About Mrs. Elephant

Waking up the morning after our wedding was another early morning. Sometimes I really wish I could just sleep in. Our wedding package at the Tribute included breakfast in bed, but since we were up so early we decided to pick up the room, pack up the car and enjoy our delicious breakfast in the pub. The staff was busy preparing for their Easter brunch, so we ate in a booth out of their way. After turning in our suite key, we drove off saying one last goodbye to our wedding venue through the side mirror.

We arranged for our guests to enjoy one last wedding weekend event at the hotel that so many of them were staying at. Mama E did a wonderful job of repurposing our flowers and wedding decor to fancy up the hotel conference room.

Mr. E and I enjoyed mimosas while mingling with our guests. We didn’t have anything to eat (other than a piece of bacon or two), but from what I heard the food was very tasty!

After a little more mingling and reliving the night before, Mr. E and I made a little speech thanking our guests once again for celebrating our wedding weekend with us. It meant so much to both of us to have so much love and support surrounding us as we began this new chapter in our lives.

And with that, we said our good byes. Gave one last kiss and hug to my parents, then headed out on our road trip minimoon to San Antonio.

Did you (or will you) have any wedding events the day after the wedding?

Your send-off looks awesome! And these totally seem like the “thing” to do these days. Mr. P’s mom tossed out the idea, and because we only have a mini weekend honeymoon before he has to head right back into law school, we quickly vetoed it. I guess we’re selfish in that sense–we want as much of the weekend after our wedding to ourselves!

Your brunch looks so nice!! I really, really wanted to do one, but the hotel breakfast was pretty expensive per person and we really weren’t sure how to figure out who all would come. (I know now that some people include an extra RSVP in the invites, but I am pretty sure the invites were sent out before I really started thinking about this, and anyway not everyone would have been invited!)

Your brunch looks so fun. We will be having an after wedding brunch/gift opening present with family only. Then it is off to our minimoon!!

Your brunch looks amazing - what a spread! We are planning a kick-off brunch as well, but after being at a wedding this weekend where 80% of the guests hightailed it out of town as quickly as possible the next morning I’m wondering how to anticipate how much food we need. Would you mind sharing whether or not you had RSVPs and/or whether or not your guests ate as much as you expected them to during brunch? Thanks!

@Somethingsoright: It was pretty tricky. We included info in our invites for those guests that were coming from out of town. We had an RSVP email/phone number but didn’t hear back from everyone.

We ended up doing our number based on those that had booked rooms in our block. There was only one family that had an early flight, but they told us ahead of time.

Our guests ate pretty much everything, I know that my mom asked for the catering manager to bring some more bacon, but other than that I don’t think they had to refill anything. We had food for 50, and probably around 46 came.
