Nearly a year ago already (yeesh!), I started getting nervous for my much-anticipated bridal shower. I shared with the hive my talented family’s hand-crafted shower invitations, my perfect bridal shower dress redesign, and I tapped Weddingbee’s incredible resources and hired the sweet Ms. Candy Corn to photograph the busy day.

My bridal shower combined all the women from both sides of the Thimble family and friends, which made for a large guest list. It would have been a beautiful outdoor affair, but it rained that day (so fitting for a shower! Err…). So NYMoH and I entered a jam-packed house. I had to shout out for anyone to realize we had arrived, but I spotted Candy Corn right away!
Despite the crowd, my mother’s (and godmother’s, and mother-in-law’s) decor details were not lost on me. I took it all in as I made my rounds and greeted my loved ones:
MIL Thimble scanned the back of our invitation’s Moo Card and prominently featured a favorite engagement picture on the lingerie line:
Across the room from the naughty (but oh so pretty and fun) lingerie line was a prim collection of wedding pictures through the generations:

Throughout the affair we had ample appetizers and bottles of my favorite wine:

And between sips, I said my hellos. Young and old, near and far (that’s my other MoH Skypeing in from Los Angeles!) everyone made a showing at the shower:

While my mom planned the tangible details, my bridal party had some multi-media tricks up their sleeves. Besides the Skype attendee, they had webcam-recorded answers to the old “how well do you know your groom/does your groom know you” game, which they called the Bridal Shower Video Game.

They asked me questions, I gave them my answer, and then they played Mr. Thimble’s pre-recorded answer. For each one I got wrong, I had to chew another piece of (different flavored) gum:

Favorite questions included “What color are {Miss Thimble’s} eyes?” (trick question, half hazel-half brown), and, “What character from LOST do you think the other would say they are the most like?” I don’t remember my answer… I think I was pulling for Juliet. But I always get a kick out of a good Jack versus Sawyer debate.
Then it was time for food, featuring homemade recipes from the Bride and Groom Cookbook:
After eating, we went back to the living room for presents!
Squeee china! My Godmother’s traditional invitation shadow box, and NYMoH’s obligatory “future Mrs…” butt shorts:
I shared a knowing glance with Candy Corn as I opened a box wrapped in bumble bee paper, adorned with a bee brooch from my mother:
As the gift opening marathon wore on, I started to get a bit overwhelmed:
I buckled under the pressure! Lots of guests equals lots of gifts. And as awesome as that is, as grateful as I am, I may devote a future post to the awkwardness that is the loooong present opening party that is The Bridal Shower…
Anyway.
Some particularly sentimental gifts were a sketch of our wedding venue and my Godmother’s keepsake invitation display:
Finally, I was able to wrap things up. Or should I say unwrap (har har), and my bridesmaids presented their ribbon bouquet handiwork:
The weather had cleared up, and we stole a moment to reenact prom by the pool with the bridal party:
And I thanked my momma for all her hard work while proudly wearing my bee pin:
(That pin was meant to make in on to my wedding bouquet, but I completely forgot about it on wedding morning!)
I hope I adequately re-introduced myself to the hive by way of my shameless back-links above. If not, Hello! I’m Mrs. Thimble. I got married on 10-10-2010 and I’m ready to slowly but surely share how it all turned out. I never thought I’d wait so long, but when you get to the light at the end of the wedding tunnel there is just SO much non-wedding life to catch up on and new adventures to obsess over. But it feels so good to buzz back in to the ’Bee!
