Date Night

August 25th, 2011 @ 6:03 pm by Mrs. Teaspoon

As Mr Teaspoon and I draw closer and closer to our wedding day, we are placing increasing emphasis on our “couple time.” Everything is getting rather crazy at the moment, between writing our personalised Prayers of the Faithful (which we are mighty proud of, by the way), ordering our wedding rings, and freaking out about the two-week Australian customs strike (Etsy purchases being held up)! So, we have definitely put an emphasis on our date nights—whether it is a night at home cooking a special meal together or a nice dinner out, it is just us being together and enjoying it.

One particular night we are already blocking out in the wedding craziness is two nights before our wedding. We are getting married on Saturday, so we are blocking out Thursday night to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing night together. It is so lovely that we’ll be able to spend time together alone and really savour the fact that we are about to get married.

Our date nights usually involve us discussing our futures, our job prospects, our hopes and dreams…OK, that is a little dramatic, but you get the idea. I really look forward to our date nights amongst all the hectic wedding planning. Last night we went out and enjoyed a lovely meal of Nepalese food—it’s like Indian but not spicy! Yum! It’s so easy to find ourselves getting caught up in life and not actually taking the time to appreciate each other, particularly with the huge step we are about to take.

Do you schedule date nights? Why or why not?

*You know I wrote this post just to get a topless Mark Wahlberg into your day. :)

Every Friday night! It’s the one night of the week where I promise not to be distracted by one project or another and just spend time together, even if it’s just dinner and television at home.

We also started setting aside one Saturday a month to ignore the household to-do lists and mundane and get away and do something together, as if we were on vacation.

I love date night! I dont care what is going on we try our best to take time out to spend together. It is very easy to get caught up with life and date night is important. I love that you scheduled date night right before the wedding. I’ll have to make sure we squeeze one of these in.

You’re so cute Teaspoon! Date night is the best. DH and I have somehow unofficially made Friday our date night and I love it. It’s the perfect way to end the week. :-)

Yes we actually had an official “date night” throughout our entire relationship! We live an hour apart and had no intentions of moving closer or in together until we got married. So we always planned a date night each week around dinner time and a favorite restaurant. Sometimes we met in the middle and other times I went to visit him or he came all the way out to me.

We sure do schedule date nights. If we don’t actively plan for them, they won’t happen. We are having one tomorrow night actually! Going to a really nice restaurant we’ve been meaning to go back to. Definitely keeps us connected.

We try to work in date nights when Mr E isn’t working or in class. We had a last date night the week of the wedding and it was very relaxing.

I appreciate the Marky Mark photo - thank you :) We have date nights on most Saturday nights. The only exception is when there’s something going on, like a wedding to attend, or a dinner with friends. We try to spend time with each other when we’re both home, too, rather than retreating to our computers - hard to do!

we’re all about the date night. It’s so hard making time for it though. We just usually turn things we have to do, but happen to be doing alone, into a date night.
