Mrs. Macarons's Picture
Mrs. Macarons, Tampa Age and Occupation: 26, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Renaissance Man Engagement Date: September 12, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Lange Farm About Me: I'm creative at heart and a graphic designer with an unhealthy obsession with type. I love roller coasters, spicy foods, and a good glass of Crianza. We’re planning a soft and lovely vintage-meets-modern wedding in a state that’s known for its beaches, glitz and glam. I have a ton of DIY projects and lots of little details I’m dying to share and can't wait to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
About Mrs. Macarons

When I realized illustrated table numbers just wouldn’t work I began my search for the figurines I had hoped to sprinkle amongst our tables. With Easter right around the corner I expected a bunny overload, not the dearth I encountered.

My one and only find was this fellow:

Cute, but significantly larger than I had hoped for. So I turned to my good old friend, the internet. After several weeks of searching, this is what I ended up with:

It was something, but lacked the consistency I had hoped for. Even after painting they just weren’t right—maybe a little too cartoony? Either way, I took a break and tried not to panic. Then one day while checking out the ‘bee for some Bachelorette party alternatives I stumbled across this post by Mrs Hamster. After drooling over the delicious looking cake my eyes shifted to the background of the photo.

I can sort of understand the dolphin, but a fire hydrant and T-Rex? If that kind of kitsch existed in the world of bisque there had to be a bunny or two out there as well. This time I found exactly what I was looking for. Realistic looking bunnies without exaggerated or creepy expressions and at 4”-5” in height they were the perfect size for our tables.

Forming our warren ended up being a lot more difficult then I expected. I’m so glad I can finally cross this tiny albeit important task off my list and go back to stressing over everything else that has to be finalized now that we’re less than a month away!

Is there a somewhat quirky item that you’re having a hard time sourcing for your wedding? What is it?

I actually have two little bunnies my mom gave me that are exactly like the two right-most bunnies in your second picture. They’re so precious! Mine are brown, though :D

Super cute ideas! I’m not to the place where I’m stressing on the little details yet, but I’m sure I’ll get there ;)

Since you like bunnies, you should check out Dedham Pottery from up here in MA. The original stuff is from the late 19th-early 20th century, but a great company makes reproductions now that are just as popular. Their “signature” is the rabbit!
