About Miss Petit Four

If you are like me, you browse through countless wedding blogs whenever humanly possible. I love seeing all the lovely little details of DIY weddings and stare longingly, wondering how to make them.

Today I wanted to try those cute little cupcake signs that have been seen on Style Me Pretty.

Here is my inspiration picture.

How cute are these?? But they are $9 for a set of 12, and that could add up really fast, especially if you have a large guest list. For example, if your guest list is 150, you would need 13 sets of 12, which comes out to (carry the 3, subtract the 1) $113.

So, enough blabbing—here is my attempt at making them.

Here are the supplies I used.

Making Things to Make Your Cupcakes Look Cute : wedding cake decor diy isla mujeres Photo209 Stuff I had to buy:

  • Big scalloped-edge hole-punch thingy (2 inch) - $8.95
  • Slightly smaller circle hole punch (1.5 inch) - $7.95
  • “Woodsies” wooden sticks (5.75 inch) - $2.99
  • Glue sticks - $1.99
  • Total money spent on supplies - $22

Stuff I had:

  • Hot glue gun
  • Construction paper
  • Leftover card stock from our save the dates
  • “Letter” stickers

I made the huge mistake of buying the Fiskars scalloped-circle cartridge, which doesn’t work without this specific tool that doesn’t come in the package. Brilliant. Plus, it was twice the price of the one that actually worked.

Here is a closer look at the hole-punch thingies:

I started by cutting out a few of each of the circles, playing around with patterns and colors from the leftover card stock I had.

Then, I hot-glued the circle onto the stick. I didn’t want to leave the stick exposed on the back, so I glued the matching color onto the back.

Then, I dug up some sticker letters that I had from a long time ago. If I decide to make a whole bunch of these, I will definitely get a different color.

I have been seeing them everywhere, and I love the idea of cupcakes instead of a traditional cake.

I also saw the heart-shaped hole punch that I may go back and buy. It looks really cute, too.

I will also say that these little things are really fun and fast to make. It took me about eight to ten minutes to make four of them.

What DIY project did you finally try after seeing it everywhere on the wedding blogs?

These are so adorable! I think you should look into getting some thin ribbon too, like in the pictures.
