Impulse Buys

August 29th, 2011 @ 3:25 pm by Mrs. Sunhat

The wedding is FOUR MONTHS AWAY! Saying that out loud incites a panic attack inside my head, but I’m still keeping cool for now.

With time ticking away faster and faster, I find myself having the need to snatch up anything that crosses my line of sight that could even remotely be used for the wedding. So far, my impulse buys have worked out or will be used, but I need to get these in check in order to stay within our budget.

My recent grab? Just a small $170 purchase…

I bought myself my very first pair of Ugg boots. I hadn’t hopped on the Ugg craze up until this point. They weren’t really my thing, and it seemed like everybody was wearing them and they were too much money. All of those more rational thoughts went out the door when I watched Oprah’s 2010 “favorite things” episode.

Oh how they sparkled! I immediately thought of wearing these at our reception. Boots and sparkle? Sounds like a perfect match for a winter NYE’s wedding!

I hemmed and hawed about them for a couple of months and then decided to go for it. Sold out! Of course they were sold out! The silver were in high demand, and the sellers on eBay were taking full advantage, asking $300 per pair. I decided it was just not meant to be. But as brides, we really don’t give up that easy, do we?!

I told myself that the closer it got to winter, more options would pop up and I’d find something just as fun to wear. Curiosity got the best of me and, as I was searching for reception flats on Amazon, I searched for “Ugg sparkle boot.” They had them! I immediately logged on to UggAustralia and, sure enough, there they were. The size 10 in silver was the only size out of stock, but as a 7.5 girl I was good to go! The product description advised going down a size if you were in between, so I added the 7 to my shopping cart and checked out as fast as I could. Free shipping was an added bonus!

I can’t wait to get these in and try them on. The picture on the website makes the silver look a little yellow, but I believe that it is just a lighting issue. The Oprah picture shows a much truer silver.

These will be great for some outside pictures after the ceremony and will hopefully keep my feet cozy and comfortable as we dance the night away!

Are you making lots of impulse purchases for the wedding?

I LOVE the sparkly Uggs! You won’t be disappointed; I have 3 (non-sparkly) pairs and they’re so comfy!

Great buy!!! You will not be disappointed, UGGs are the best invention there ever was. I update my closet with a new pair every fall because I love them so dearly. If I were getting married at a cold time I would be all over this idea.

I saw those in red and totally wanted them. I haven’t been able to justify spending the money YET, but good for you for getting them :)

Ok… so, I have to start by saying that Uggs have never been my thing. It’s not even the price, because they sell the knock-off or “inspired” brands… I’m just not big on the style.

BUT, As a girl with teensy feet and big ‘ole man calves, they are the only winter boots I can get my legs into! And this style of boot is SO comfortable, and so warm.

Knowing Indiana winters oh-so-well, your feet are going to be super cozy in your blingy boots :)

I love uggggs! I love the sparkle ones sooo much! I look forward to fall just so I can break my uggs out. I think sparkle uggs for a NYE wedding is awesome. I am normally a 7.5 and get 7’s. They may be slightly snug at first but all that fur will become less fluffy once you wear them a bit and they will fit better.

I was *this close* to being an Ugg bride (that sounds funny) but went another route, so happy you are rockin’ them! I would die without my Uggs!

I love the sparkley uggs..that’s what i want next! I have a pair and they are my absolute favorite winter shoes. I’m also a 7.5 but I personally think they run big so I will be getting a 7 next time. I’m a Floridian and always, always, ALWAYS look forward to wearing mine during winter vacays or when we’ve got some freezing 50 degree weather lol. And to justify the spending, I remind myself how they’ll always be in style AND COMFY.

So fun! I’m going with silver sparkly flats, but now I’m thinking these sounds fantastic for our photos outside - what if it’s snowy? :-)

i’m lucky because i fit the kid’s size uggs but have always found good deals on shopbop for the grownup sizes. i was just at nordstrom’s rack today and my friend picked up a pair of pink ugg boots. i’m more on the conservative side so i only have them in black, brown, and tan.

Love Uggs! I didn’t own a pair until last winter and now I can’t imagine my life without them. The sparkly ones are going to be so cute under your wedding dress!
