About Miss Honey

These Boots Are Made For Walkin’

August 30th, 2011 @ 1:40 pm by Mrs. Honey

I used to have a spending problem; a spending-money-on-shoes-I-never-wear problem. I used to wear heels nearly every day and I loved buying heels. But I was a cheap shoe buyer. I always wanted to drop a couple Benjamins on a pair of shoes, but I just never could whip out the credit card for a pair. As a result, my closet was filled with cheap heels. A couple years back BM Hogan had a shoe intervention of sorts; she made me realize that the majority of my shoes had never.been.worn. Since then, I have slowly gotten rid of shoes and I’m down to a shoe rack with twelve pairs; okay this doesn’t include my flip flops, tennis shoes and boots, but I did reduce my collection to about a quarter of it’s original glory. My shoe habits have since changed pretty drastically.

Four out of the five days at work, I wear my stand by super small wedge and if it’s not that wedge, it’s a pair of kitten heels…and on the weekend? I’m either in flip flops or UGGs, depending on the season. Now, when I wear a normal heel, it kills my feet. Like aching in five minutes, get these damn things off me now! It makes me beyond sad that the muscles that used to allow me to rock heels everyday, are gone. Why am I telling you all of this? Obviously it relates to my wedding day shoes and the fact that I will not be wearing these, or anything remotely similar:

Le sigh. They are so stunning and so wedding-y, but too much heel for me..oh, yes, and we are getting married in January in Colorado. Snow and heels isn’t the most ideal combination. I had to begin thinking about other options that would work for our winter wedding. UGGs were the first obvious choice, I loved seeing Mrs. Champagne sport the UGGs for her snowy photo shoot. I even told my bridesmaid’s early on in planning that I wanted us to all wear UGGs, but this was all premature. (Although seeing Miss Sunhat’s post on sparkly UGGs made me want them again…what’s with my indecisiveness?!) Sometime after we settled on our rustic venue, mismatched dresses and a final color palette, I came across this picture:

I know, I know…I have already referenced this picture, but it is like this picture was meant for my inspiration file; it’s perfect for the look I’m going after. That’s right, the Honey ’maids and I will be showcasing cowboy boots for our wedding! They strike the perfect balance of warm and stylish. They fit so perfectly with our venue and majority of the girls already own a pair of cowboy boots. For the couple that don’t, I’m searching high and low for just the right pair for them. As for me, I will share my story about boots next.

In case you need convincing that girls in dresses and cowboy boots is just pure awesome sauce, here you go:

Thanks for the shout out - don’t mean to confuse you more! The season obviously was a major factor for my shoe choices, although I will be sporting some heels for the ceremony. I too have never invested in a really good, expensive pair of heels. Probaby why all of mine hurt me! The cowboy boots will look amazing. Can’t wait to see you rockin’ ‘em!

I love your choice. We are currently deliberating about boots. Only a couple of my maids have em and the others would never wear them again. And I know what you mean about cheap heels! I learned the difference! I finally “broke” down and bought a pair. They are so comfortable.

Oh! I am wearing cowboy boots, too. :) I am a horse person, though, haha. I will buy brand new ones for my wedding, but my father keeps insisting that they will look completely silly for some reason. I know I will be most comfortable in them, though. I’m so happy you are doing this, too! Aren’t those pictures to die for? I wish I could get my BMs to do that… I can’t wait to wear them. I’m more excited about this than my dress by far.

@anna4041: Yeah, I’m thinking it’s time to upgrade in the shoe department.
@sunny1: Yay for another cowboy boot bride (although you are more authentice than me :)!

I LOVE COWBOY BOOTS. Grew up in North Dakota and Colorado going to rodeos and all that jazz. Sadly, cowboy boots and a botanical garden in North Carolina don’t quite go. And, if we could, I would totes get married where you or Mrs. Cowboy Boots got hitched. So jeals.

Yay! What boots Are you planning on wearing? We are getting married on our cotton farm in Arizona and I CANT wait for my old gringo box to arrive!!! And only 1 of my 9 maids don’t already have a pair (although some of my girls have used the wedding as an excuse for a new pair!)

@Future Army Wife: Oh my, Mrs. CB’s venue was to die for!
@Melissa.erin: How cool, a cotton farm! I was just drooling over the Old Gringo boots (thanks to Miranda Lambert). I have a post going up today about my boots…and my dress is Allure 8806. I posted about it a couple months back.
@Miss Pony: Thanks Pony!

Cowboy boots are going to be so cute! I love shoes for Target so I totally feel you on lots of cheap shoes. And I wear flats every day but have probably 30 pairs of high heels… oops!
