Alternate Title: “Why Are We Having a Wedding Again?”
Or, “Man, I’m Tired”
So, I’m kinda over all this wedding stuff. I mean, yes, I am excited to marry Mr. M and be his wife and all that. And, I’m excited to see all our friends and family. And I’m most excited to wear my pretty dress. Just kidding…not really.
But, I’m soooooooooooooo tireddddddddddd of making decisiooooooonnnnnnnnnnns [that’s my whiny voice]. Like, for instance, what to name our tables. We could number them…or we could name them after cat breeds…or we could name them after Harry Potter things (like the Shrieking Shack and the Whomping Willow, and wouldn’t it be fun to put people at the Slytherin table???)…or we could name them after trees, since we sorta have this tree theme going…sort of.

The Whomping Willow is a tree! OMG, also, I feel like I am distracted all the time, and like I’m hopped up on meth too, not that I actually know what meth is like, but I can imagine. In my mind it’s like “buttons, seating chart, hair, make up, rain, rain, tent, freaking tent, coffee, fall, leaves…” and on and on and on all freaking day and night long.
Ahem.

First of all, eeeeek eeeek! Second, let me just say that it is such an honor to be among all of the amazing women I have admired for almost a year now. Oh man, I cannot wait to share my wedding with the hive! So why did I choose Miss Warbler for my character? Well, it was tough—all of the other ones are so cute! I seriously considered the doe because of the abundance of Harry Potter references I could have pulled from. I’m looking at you, Miss Magic! In the end I chose my character because I have a musical name. And no, it’s not “Treble Clef.”

So, who the heck are the Warblers?

For over a year now Mr. FW and I have talked about having a photo booth at our wedding. First we considered DIYing it like so many fabulous bees before me have done. Seriously, if you are considering going that route, check out those tutorials for a near-exhaustive rundown of all the various ways you can DIY a photo booth. With so much information out there, I was sure this was a project we could take on. Then, the days and months kept ticking by and the list of projects kept mounting, so that finally at some point we decided we better look into the cost of hiring someone to make our photo booth dream come true.
But having seen so many DIY photo booths in blogland, I was dead set on avoiding the old-school photo booth that could only seat a few people on a bench. Instead I wanted a massive booth that would easily hold a whole group of people.

I had two criteria when planning my bachelorette party: I wanted to get my tan on and I wanted no penis shaped paraphernalia of any kind. Thankfully, the Bacon Bridesmaids are totally kick ass and delivered both in full! We threw around a million ideas, but ultimately settled on the very first one that was thrown around: a weekend on Cape Cod with nothing but beach time and Dunkin Donuts coffee to keep us happy.
I’m sure this sounds totally random since I live in Chicago, but all three of my stateside bridesmaids have some connection to New England and the Cape, so it was actually a really easy decision. The hardest part was coordinating all four of our schedules. Once the weekend was nailed down, the ladies set about finding the perfect beach town with a hotel under $300 a night that also allowed for four guests in a room. Fortunately, they are pretty resourceful and found the only place in town that fit the bill, the Beach Breeze Inn in West Harwich.
We ended up with only two bridesmaids at the bachelorette because MOH Bacon had a family emergency (don’t worry, her family is OK—it was just a bit dodgy for a bit), so the weekend was a little different than we’d originally planned, but it was still a great success.

This past weekend Mr. E, the fam, and I traveled up to Philly to celebrate the wedding of BM Philly and her husband D.
The weekend was filled with wonderful events from the welcome BBQ on Thursday, to the rehearsal and cocktail party on Friday to the big event on Saturday. Of course, the weather was a big topic of interest as Hurricane Irene was heading our way.

Our ceremony is nearly planned and I can’t wait to share the details with you all! For now though, while we put on the finishing touches and get everything approved, I am going to get things started by sharing our ceremony music.
Through the church in which we will be wed, we were put in contact with Mrs. L, the lovely music coordinator/organist. She’s is a kind older woman who, upon calling her with only a vague idea of music selections, kindly proceeded to sing the options for me. Seriously. It was with her perfectly pitched “la da daaaas” and “da di duuuums” that I chose most of our music.
Prelude: She assured me that she would play several appropriate selections during the seating of the guests. As I had no interest in hand-selecting 30-45 minutes worth of music, I was perfectly content in completely relinquishing the control.

So in my previous post, you learned how foolish I was when I pushed away a great guy for no real good reason!
I thought about Mr. Ball Cap quite a bit over the next couple of months, and as much as I tried to get him off my mind, I just felt so bad about how I handled the whole situation. I assumed I had blown it and hoped that someone else great would come into my life. But then, on December 17, 2008, while at a friend’s Christmas party, I received a text that simply said “How are you?” It was from Mr. Ball Cap! I was in shock. I was surprised he even kept my number!
Over the next few days, we texted and talked and he asked if I wanted to maybe hang out again. I agreed and we set up a time to meet up. But then…he canceled on me. Now I know that sounds terrible, but he actually had a valid reason that I believed. His youngest brother was going into the Air Force and the family ended up planning a farewell get together for his last night on the same day we were supposed to meet up. I couldn’t blame him for that and hoped he wasn’t really blowing me off.

After doing some research on bridesmaids’ dresses, I knew I wanted my girls to wear something pretty, but not too stuffy and formal. It is a beach wedding, after all.
I happened to stumble upon Target’s website, and it turns out that they actually have some really cute dresses that could work as bridesmaids’ dresses. Here are a few of the cute dresses that they have.

After our time was up at the beautiful cenote, we headed down to Xcael beach for the second half of our trash the dress session. As soon as we pulled in, Rachel saw this beautiful palm tree and decided to start our beach photos there.

We took a break from our After “I Do” Series but we’ll be back next month with a great new set of prompts and responses! To check out all of our past After “I Do” series posts, go here, or check out some of the highlights:
We have a great series of prompts coming up including:
…But we’re always open to your prompts! What would you like the married bees to discuss? What are you curious about when it comes to couples after the wedding day? Let us know and we’ll include the hottest topics in our next round of the series!
Vera Wang released her sketches for Kim Kardashian’s three wedding gowns on her blog recently. This one’s my favorite, and you can see all three here.

It’s a great reminder that I need to commission someone to sketch me in my dress…I love the timelessness of designer sketches!
Do you love them? Which of Kim’s three dresses is your favorite?
A wedding-day fragrance wasn’t exactly high on my list of priorities — at least not until I started reading past posts by such blogger bees as Miss Beagle, Miss Apple, Ms. Sloth, and Mrs. Pencils. Then, all of a sudden, I was all, “OMG I need to find my wedding-day signature scent like NOW!”
I’ve never worn fragrance. I used to dabble in my mom’s Navy and Anais Anais, and slip my grandmother’s Chanel No. 5 out of her dresser when she wasn’t looking, but aside from playing around and wearing vanilla essential oil every day for like two straight years in college, I’m just not a perfume kinda girl. Lots of scents remind me of old ladies in my family, or give me headaches, or smell like hippies. Nothing against hippies – I just don’t want to smell like one on my wedding day… or… ever.
So I started my search at Nordstrom’s perfume counters, with this ever-so-helpful request:
