Miss Ticket, Riverside, CAAge and Occupation: 25, Executive AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, HVAC TechnicianEngagement Date: November 14, 2010Wedding Date: October 2011Venue: Crestmore ManorAbout Me: I'm a lifelong So Cal gal, a chocoholic, a closet gamer, and a television enthusiast (love me some Vampire Diaries!) who adores playing in the kitchen and lives in flip flops. Mr. Ticket and I are best known for singing and dancing in the car, our World of Warcraft addiction, adoring food, crane game playing, and our general homebody ways. Oh, and GO STEELERS!
For some reason, weddings and children seem to bring it out in people. Everyone thinks they know best and that you, of course, want to know how they would do it, because naturally you won’t have an opinion of your own. From the month of the year you choose to marry to the wording on the invitation, EVERYONE has an opinion.
Mr. Ticket and I chose to have a relatively short engagement (though at times it’s felt like it took FOREVER) with 11 months to plan our wedding. From the very beginning we have received advice/suggestions/requests… some were taken more seriously (those given from parties assisting in the payment of the big day) and others were taken with a grain of salt (no, we will not be playing Ke$ha at the reception Best Man A. Mr. Ticket put his foot down on that one). Read more…
Mrs. Sunhat, Dyer, IN Age and Occupation: 32, Tax AccountantFiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Landscape ForemanEngagement Date: September 25, 2010Wedding Date: December 2011Venues: St. Andrew the Apostle, Fiesta PalaceAbout Me: I'm a Midwest girl who grew up in the country and now works in the big city! I love cooking, entertaining, reading (addicted to my Kindle) and going to the movies. I don't miss an episode of Hoarders and I start cleaning every time I watch! My profession doesn't call for much creativity so wedding planning has been a great outlet. Mr. Sunhat and I met online three years ago, cheer for rival MLB teams and share a home with our dog, Wrigley. We are planning a traditional, Polish, Catholic wedding with lots of DIY elements and some fun surprises. I'm so excited to be married on New Year's Eve and we can't wait to ring in the new year as husband and wife!
I think I owe you an explanation on how this couple came to be!
After graduating from college in December of 2001, I started my accounting career at the height of tax season. I was lucky enough to join a firm with a fairly large department of young accountants. I made lifelong friends fast and spent the next seven years having a ball. In 2003, the housing market was primed for young buyers, so I purchased my first home. Life was good. I was having so much fun but had no one special to share my life with.
My friends started to get married and have children, and I found myself wanting the same. The circle of people in my life was pretty tight and after going to the same restaurants, clubs, etc., week after week, meeting someone new was proving difficult.
So what is a modern, independent woman to do? Turn to the internet, of course! I decided it was time to put myself out there and start meeting people outside of my everyday routine. I doubled my efforts by joining a dating service and eHarmony. Read more…
Mrs. High Wire, DallasAge and Occupation: 23, Legal AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of CommunicationsEngagement Date: October 9, 2010Wedding Date: September 2011Venue: Clark GardensAbout Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
But once I tried it on, I felt like it got sort of lost next to my blonde hair and I didn’t like how close it sat on my face. It was super itchy and uncomfortable.
I couldn’t find any other styles that worked with my dress and was starting to give up on the idea of a veil entirely. The price tag on the available veils at local bridal salons was also a huge hindrance. $200 for some tulle? No thanks.
Then I fell head over heels in love with this: Read more…

We love the outdoors just about as much as we love spoiling our dog and three cats. On any given weekend you can find us being adventurous, doing anything from rafting to snowboarding, and everything in between. We live in an outdoor mecca and truly believe in "Work Hard, Play Harder." I'm an optimist to the core, a crafter wannabe, a Southern food cook-in-training and a big time believer in girls nights. We met, fell in love and got engaged in eight short months and are now knee-deep in planning what we hope to be a super-fun, very us wedding celebration. Join us as we plan a rustic meets whimsical, Colorado winter wedding with loads of personal touches and good food!
I used to have a spending problem; a spending-money-on-shoes-I-never-wear problem. I used to wear heels nearly every day and I loved buying heels. But I was a cheap shoe buyer. I always wanted to drop a couple Benjamins on a pair of shoes, but I just never could whip out the credit card for a pair. As a result, my closet was filled with cheap heels. A couple years back BM Hogan had a shoe intervention of sorts; she made me realize that the majority of my shoes had never.been.worn. Since then, I have slowly gotten rid of shoes and I’m down to a shoe rack with twelve pairs; okay this doesn’t include my flip flops, tennis shoes and boots, but I did reduce my collection to about a quarter of it’s original glory. My shoe habits have since changed pretty drastically.
Four out of the five days at work, I wear my stand by super small wedge and if it’s not that wedge, it’s a pair of kitten heels…and on the weekend? I’m either in flip flops or UGGs, depending on the season. Now, when I wear a normal heel, it kills my feet. Like aching in five minutes, get these damn things off me now! It makes me beyond sad that the muscles that used to allow me to rock heels everyday, are gone. Why am I telling you all of this? Obviously it relates to my wedding day shoes and the fact that I will not be wearing these, or anything remotely similar: Read more…

I have lived in many cities---Santa Clara, Durham (England); Florence; Boston; Princeton Junction---but my heart will always be nestled up near the Cascades and Olympics, which is why we are holding our wedding there. I am a bookworm and a History nerd: I love that my life consists of books, books, and more books, since I work in Publishing! Recently, all waking time not consumed by work and my daily commute has been overtaken by wedding planning. Well, that, and watching Premier-League soccer. There is nothing I love more than a good Tana French mystery, traveling to new places, Anthropologie shopping sprees, Iittala dishware, Kate Spade shoes, impeccable typefaces (think: Archer), and a nice English ale (hellooo, Old Speckled Hen!). Oh, and did I mention my obsession with wedding blogs? Yeah, there’s that too. Join Mr. Candy Apple and me as we prep for our wedding, and, more importantly, our marriage!
The wedding day itself, as well as the week preceding and the weekend after, were absolutely amazing. We are still trying to process everything, but had a total blast with family and friends. Read more…
Mrs. Teacup, Santa CruzAge and Occupation: 34, Pharmaceutical SalesFiance's Age and Occupation: 41, Ditto! (For a different company)Engagement Date: October 1, 2010Wedding Date: October 2011Venue: ceremony in our family's Catholic church in Watsonville; reception at the Santa Cruz Beach BoardwalkAbout Me: I’m learning to embrace my true spirit as GIRLY GIRL after previous careers in the Navy and consulting for the government. My favorite hobby is SLEEP, with dancing HULA a close second. An INTROVERT in extrovert clothing, I’m questing to UNDO 34 years of TYPE A conditioning. Constantly processing the details of our upcoming nuptials, peek into this late blooming bride & groom's roller coaster ride to the altar. Giant Dipper required, sold separately.
Summer in Santa Cruz is in full force. For those of you who’ve never visited California’s central coast, there’s a reason why local souvenir shops sell lots of fleece jackets. Instead of sunshine, blue skies, and warm beach days, we get what Mr. Hot Tea affectionately refers to as the fog monster. Here’s a recent photo to reinforce the chill of a 60-degree summer:
{ The wool cap is a necessity, not just a fashion accessory }
The Teacup family vacation is regularly scheduled for late May or early June in hopes to avoid the fog monster for a little while. Unfortunately, W-Day planning and budgeting necessarily took priority over our annual summer sojourn.
Dudes, we are suffering from cabin fever. First world problems, I know. We live in a place where millions of people visit annually, courtesy of the Beach Boardwalk.

Haley Mansion, Joliet, ILAbout Me: I'm a city girl who loves a good escape, so I'm planning a Chicago wedding outside of the city. I've been described as a quirky yet down-to-earth drama queen who loves fiercely. I used to be a scientist, but now I'm learning to navigate the world of non-profit organizations. I love cooking, blogging, shopping, and music, and movies (Hans Zimmer is my favorite movie composer). Mr. Kettle and I had a short courtship and now we have a happy home with our cat-who-thinks-she's-people, Belle. We spend our days and nights with good food, live music, video games, family, and friends. Our wedding has become this wonderful excuse to bring together hundreds of people we can't bear to be without.

I love roller coasters, spicy foods, and a good glass of Crianza. We’re planning a soft and lovely vintage-meets-modern wedding in a state that’s known for its beaches, glitz and glam. I have a ton of DIY projects and lots of little details I’m dying to share and can't wait to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
Today marked a very important day for the Macarons. We made a pilgrimage downtown to the county clerk’s office to apply for our marriage license! We snapped a quick picture documenting the occasion before heading inside where picture taking is verboden.

It’s true—your eyes are not playing tricks on you…I’m back! As much as I wish time hadn’t passed as much as it has since I was posting and prepping for recaps, it has completely flown by. I’ll definitely fill you in on my adventures but first I owe you all an apology. In order to not make you suffer any further, I’ll forgo a video of myself singing this and allow a professional to take the lead—you can thank me later. Sing it Brenda Lee!
So dear hive, please accept my apology. I’ll do my absolute best to stay close moving forward and deliver the best damn recaps I possibly can!
Before I begin filling you in on the details of my favorite day ever—I’ll give you a brief run down of what I’ve been up to while I’ve been away.

My type-A Virgo tendencies often cause me to drive my laid-back college sweetheart fiance batty with lists and PowerPoint presentations. I love to be crafty and do things myself, which explains why my two crazy kittens often will prance around the house covered in glitter and ribbons. When I am not bogged down with work, school, or wedding planning, I like to travel to visit my expansive family and have wild adventures with my best friends. After a rollercoaster ride of a love story, I’m ready to take that final plunge, marry the love of my life, and become a Mrs.!
Mr. D and I did not know that there was so much involved with planning a ceremony. Soon after we decided against writing our own vows, we realized that there were other things to consider. Such as, what kind of ceremonies to include during the ceremony. There are all kinds to choose from. We could do a unity candle ceremony:

On Friday, July 22nd, MOB and I had a mother-daughter day and went to another of Transworld’s Jewelry, Fashion & Accessories shows. I first discussed the show in this post, and we wanted to go to another to see what other wedding goods we could find.
Going on a Friday was a great choice. The doors opened at 9:30, and we arrived about 20 minutes early. We waited in a makeshift line and made a game plan on which way to go first. As the crowd filed in, we were handed some free goodies:

I try desperately to stay as busy as possible at all times (and am succeeding big time right now!) My biggest loves in life are Law & Order: SVU, Community (the show, not the concept, although I like that, too), ice cream, white cheddar popcorn, beer, hiking, knitting, decorating, writing, being outside, spending time with friends and family and musical theater. Mr. Cannon is pretty sweet, too. We've had a lot of fun traveling and having adventures all over the country, but have finally moved back near our hometown to settle down. We're planning a low-key, colorful, fun wedding and an awesome-to-the-max reception.
Part of being a bride in the internet age is spending way too much time mulling over other people’s weddings. Sure, in the past you could skim magazines for ideas, but the internet has brought us wedding blogs, wedding planning websites, and images from photographers’ websites. It’s become easier than ever for brides to find things we like from weddings past and incorporate them into our own weddings.
It comes down to deciding what works for your wedding and what says “you”. I know you’re all dying to know which trends the Cannons have embraced and which have we shunned. And most importantly, why? So, here we go!
Embraced- Mustaches. My love affair with fake mustaches started four years ago. Back before Cherry Bomb came around, Mr. Cannon and I were big fans of hitting the town with our friends and drinking at the bars. The downside of that (other than making my liver sad and a fool of myself) was my drunken online shopping problem. I would often get home and buy something completely stupid that I found hilarious at the time. The next morning, while still finding my purchase hilarious, I was not keen on the actual money I spent on it. One of these purchases was for two packs of fake mustaches, a package of astronaut ice cream, and a DVD of Pete’s Dragon.
However, I always made the best of these purchases. Read more…
