Mrs. Sunhat, Dyer, IN
Age and Occupation: 32, Tax Accountant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Landscape Foreman
Engagement Date: September 25, 2010
Wedding Date: December 2011
Venues: St. Andrew the Apostle, Fiesta Palace
About Me: I'm a Midwest girl who grew up in the country and now works in the big city! I love cooking, entertaining, reading (addicted to my Kindle) and going to the movies. I don't miss an episode of Hoarders and I start cleaning every time I watch! My profession doesn't call for much creativity so wedding planning has been a great outlet. Mr. Sunhat and I met online three years ago, cheer for rival MLB teams and share a home with our dog, Wrigley. We are planning a traditional, Polish, Catholic wedding with lots of DIY elements and some fun surprises. I'm so excited to be married on New Year's Eve and we can't wait to ring in the new year as husband and wife!

So, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I love lace. It’s romantic and feminine and that’s exactly the look I am going for on our wedding day.

Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich, Washington, DC/Cape May, NJ
Age and Occupation: 28, School Counselor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Collegiate Athletics
Engagement Date: March 27, 2010
Wedding Date: October 2011
Venue: Congress Hall Hotel
About Me: I am a school counselor who spends my day wrangling children and my nights attempting to be creative with wedding projects. My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
As someone who works in a school, I spend countless hours watching and reading about the weather especially during the winter. This hurricane coming up the coast could provide me with a day or two off so I have been tracking it with the diligence of Al Roker.
On the news this morning they were interviewing a bride as she was loading up her car to be evacuated from the Outer Banks. Her wedding venue/site fell within the madatory evacuation area. As I watched her story I saw the ticker at the bottom of the screen list Cape May County as another evacuation area. Since I sometimes have the mental capacity of a 7 year old, I immediately thought about myself and our wedding. A hurricane taking over our wedding day will probably now haunt my dreams.
What amazed me about the interview was how calmly the bride was reacting to the news.

Mrs. Deviled Egg, Pittsburgh
Age and Occupation: 27, Public Relations
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Accounting
Engagement Date: December 24, 2007
Wedding Date: May, 2009
Blogging Since: October 21, 2008
Venue: Historic auditorium and meeting hall in one of Pittsburgh's commuter cities
About Me: I am obsessed with all things crafty, especially scrapbooking, knitting, jewelry-making & cake decorating. I also love being an aunt, wrapping presents, watching football (Go Steelers!), shopping at yard sales and consignment stores, procrastinating, singing and learning to play the guitar. When it comes to wedding planning, I'm excited about working on DIY projects and finding creative ways to stay under budget. Of course, nothing is more exciting to me than knowing that the wonderful Mr. Deviled Egg will be my husband.
I truly apologize for disappearing from the blog for so long. I hate excuses, but I have one. I have a few, actually. I could blame our 10-month home renovation, work/job-security issues and taking on a new opportunity, typical busy married life, being late to the game in getting our photos back from our photographer and, of course, plain old laziness. All are the truth, but the biggest, most honest reason is that some things got sucky and revisiting our happy wedding day just didn’t seem too enticing. While I think our start of married life has been pretty awesome overall, not everything has been sunshine and roses.
Thankfully, the part that sucked was not my relationship with my husband. Despite the curveballs thrown our way, we’ve been rock solid and I think we’ve learned so much and grown closer.
Unfortunately, the sucky part has everything to do with infertility. The big IF. And it has a way of invading and bringing down just about every aspect of your life.
Putting this post together has been tough, but I do believe that infertility needs every voice it can get. While I’m well aware that Weddingbee isn’t supposed to be about babies, I do think all aspects of marriage are fair game. And since (for most couples, anyway) children are part of the marriage equation at some point, I’m going to continue with this post. (Sorry in advance for any TMI content.)

Miss Kettle, Chicago, IL
Age and Occupation: 26, Non-Profit Donor Resource Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Musician & Teacher
Engagement Date: May 29, 2011
Wedding Date: February 2012
Venue: Patrick C. Haley Mansion, Joliet, IL
About Me: I'm a city girl who loves a good escape, so I'm planning a Chicago wedding outside of the city. I've been described as a quirky yet down-to-earth drama queen who loves fiercely. I used to be a scientist, but now I'm learning to navigate the world of non-profit organizations. I love cooking, blogging, shopping, and music, and movies (Hans Zimmer is my favorite movie composer). Mr. Kettle and I had a short courtship and now we have a happy home with our cat-who-thinks-she's-people, Belle. We spend our days and nights with good food, live music, video games, family, and friends. Our wedding has become this wonderful excuse to bring together hundreds of people we can't bear to be without.
Every bride should know that it’s very important to have your priorities in mind when figuring out where the money for your budget will go. I knew this. I just didn’t know our priorities weren’t so set in stone.
At first, our priorities were:
- Food
- Flowers
- Clothes
- Everything else in no particular order.
But then… I realized every venue we were even remotely interested in made their own food. So, finding the perfect caterer to fill all our wedding culinary dreams wasn’t going to happen. I also realized that I really love roses and wasn’t very interested in much else. Variety was overrated (at least for now).
Also, choosing the clothes for the wedding party was a relatively simple process that didn’t involve more than one store visit to two stores for each group of people getting clothed. And since each clothing item came in under budget, we had to reconfigure our budget priorities.

Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney
Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: August 8, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Curzon Hall
About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
As we exited the church, I couldn’t stop myself from looking at Mr. Jaguar—constantly. We were married! He was my husband. And I had suddenly been turned into a wife.

As our bridal party and our parents followed us down the aisle, we took a few shots in the entry way and then made a hasty (and sneaky!) run up the side of the church to the alternate entrance.

Mrs. Cinnamon Bun, Calgary, Alberta
Age and Occupation: 26, Stage Manager
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Theatre Technician
Engagement Date: June 22, 2010
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Calgary Opera Centre
About Me: I'm a life-long crafter and bookworm living in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Some of my loves include Lord of the Rings, Sherlock Holmes, knitting, opera, musicals, Etsy, baking, and of course, Mr. Cinnamon Buns. We're keeping our wedding close to home---the venue isn't very far from our house, and we live within walking distance of 6 bridal salons. I'm using the wedding as an excuse to try out every craft project I possibly can, with the endless help and support of my fiance.
A question I was asked more than once on my wedding was ‘is that ALL your own hair?!’. People seemed impressed when I said yes. I was a little surprised, because at that point, my hair was nowhere near the longest I’ve ever had it—it was about down to my bra strap—for a long time, it was down to my waist! You can see a side-view of my wedding hair-do in this photo.

I like big buns?

Mrs. Candy Apple, Princeton Junction, NJ/ Seattle, WA
Age and Occupation: 26, Project Editor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Attorney
Engagement Date: May 9, 2010
Wedding Date: August 2011
Venue: St. Joseph's Parish, Seattle Tennis Club
About Me: I am a Pacific Northwesterner, born and bred. I have lived in many cities---Santa Clara, Durham (England); Florence; Boston; Princeton Junction---but my heart will always be nestled up near the Cascades and Olympics, which is why we are holding our wedding there. I am a bookworm and a History nerd: I love that my life consists of books, books, and more books, since I work in Publishing! Recently, all waking time not consumed by work and my daily commute has been overtaken by wedding planning. Well, that, and watching Premier-League soccer. There is nothing I love more than a good Tana French mystery, traveling to new places, Anthropologie shopping sprees, Iittala dishware, Kate Spade shoes, impeccable typefaces (think: Archer), and a nice English ale (hellooo, Old Speckled Hen!). Oh, and did I mention my obsession with wedding blogs? Yeah, there’s that too. Join Mr. Candy Apple and me as we prep for our wedding, and, more importantly, our marriage!
Well, this is it!
I cannot believe this day is finally here. So much stress, organization, planning, excitement, tears, and love have gone into this day. I have looked forward to marrying Mr. CA for a long time, and this engagement over the past year has been quite the ride.
But really, it’s not just a day. It is the beginning of us as Mrs. and Mr., united as one. Us against the world. Or something like that.

Hive: I may not have always been the best blogger (*ahem*), but I am so thankful for all of your comments, words of encouragement, ideas. This day would not have come together without you.

Mrs. Funnel Cake, Zürich, Switzerland/Columbus, Ohio
Age and Occupation: 24, Visual Communication Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Application Engineer
Engagement Date: May 30, 2010
Wedding Date: October 2011
Venue: Catholic church followed by a botanical conservatory
About Me: I'm an American designer who moved to Switzerland for love after a fairytale beginning at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I love travel, photography, museums, learning German so I can speak with my mother-in-law, cooking (eating), cuddling, and I'm not afraid to try something new even if it terrifies me. My Swiss/Brazilian man and I are both down to earth people planning a traditional Catholic wedding in my hometown with some quirky cultural exceptions to reflect our different backgrounds. We look forward to celebrating with friends and family from all over the world in a classic, sophisticated fusion of heritage and love.
After I took my “tampon” out of the washer and deemed that it was not adequately coloured, I literally ran out of the house to try and buy more dye. But as it were, there happened to be a parade in Zürich and things were closing down early, so by 4PM on Saturday all the shops and pharmacies were shutting down. I had to patiently wait until Monday to buy more dye so I could try to mend my fail.
Because I have good faith in my little eco front-loading washer, and because I am lazy, I chose to dye it the same way I did before. However, I did decide to thoroughly soak my skirt in a bucket of water beforehand to help the dying process.

This time it was a success!
