Mrs. Sparkler, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 27, Communications AficionadoFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, PublisherEngagement Date: July 21, 2010Wedding Date: September 2011Venue: Chicago Illuminating CompanyAbout Me: I’m a Southern lady living in the big city of Chicago. Well, lady may be a stretch, but I’m working hard to keep some Virginia charm in our sleek, urban, wedding-palooza! I’m addicted to marathons, not-so-famous bands, Chicago restaurants, and Mark Twain. I cry during SPCA commercials, and I think LOST was the best show to ever hit television. Mr. S and I met at a classy college mixer and, 7 years later, he’s still by my side. He’s the only child, laid back, free spirit... I’m the oldest of five kids, type-A, organizer. It doesn’t work on paper, but we’ve never paid attention to that stuff anyway. Somehow it works. And like they say, sometimes when you know…you just know.
Hi… remember me? Yep, Miss Sparkler is alive. Hard to believe, I know. I’m sure you thought I’d been swept away into a black hole of wedding insanity since I’ve been horribly MIA these past few days.
Ahhhh! Sparkler black hole! (Space image via ZME Science)
I guess (in a way) I really did get swept away into wedding planning. All of a sudden, things have to be done NOW. As in, “Maybe we should have done this yesterday.” It’s pretty stressful, but I’m surviving it because of one amazing decision I made a looooong time ago. Back when wedding planning consisted of matching pretty colors together in my mind. What decision could be big enough that it’s single-handedly keeping me from going crazy?

I finally settled in Calgary a few years ago and met Mr. Gazelle who loves me even though we cheer for different hockey teams. We are planning a bit of a destination wedding in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia and we can’t wait to share the day with our close family and friends.

Shopping for wedding dresses and realizing I had just found THE DRESS
When we last chatted about my wedding dress I mentioned that I had the teeny tiny problem that it didn’t zip up. Somehow my chest had inflated 2 inches in the last few months when I wasn’t looking? After that I watched what I ate, hit my bikini boot camp classes in the rain when no one else (save for one other lady) showed up, and it was paying off. A few pounds lost and half an inch from my chest. But it was too late. I tried my dress on again a month away from the wedding and the zipper was still a good 1.5 inches away at the top. Read more…

I love cooking, entertaining, reading (addicted to my Kindle) and going to the movies. I don't miss an episode of Hoarders and I start cleaning every time I watch! My profession doesn't call for much creativity so wedding planning has been a great outlet. Mr. Sunhat and I met online three years ago, cheer for rival MLB teams and share a home with our dog, Wrigley. We are planning a traditional, Polish, Catholic wedding with lots of DIY elements and some fun surprises. I'm so excited to be married on New Year's Eve and we can't wait to ring in the new year as husband and wife!
I always knew I wanted to do photo save the dates. I liked receiving these types in the past and hanging them on my fridge.
Because we didn’t get our engagement pictures taken until May, it was already pushing the six-month mark by the time we settled on a design, finalized the guest list, and sent them on their way. I wish I had planned a little better and was able to spend more time on adding special touches to these, but I had to let it go. They still turned out great! Wanna see???
Miss Ticket, Riverside, CAAge and Occupation: 25, Executive AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, HVAC TechnicianEngagement Date: November 14, 2010Wedding Date: October 2011Venue: Crestmore ManorAbout Me: I'm a lifelong So Cal gal, a chocoholic, a closet gamer, and a television enthusiast (love me some Vampire Diaries!) who adores playing in the kitchen and lives in flip flops. Mr. Ticket and I are best known for singing and dancing in the car, our World of Warcraft addiction, adoring food, crane game playing, and our general homebody ways. Oh, and GO STEELERS!
When I got the call that my dress had arrived (2 months early) I was so excited I couldn’t wait to go pick it up. When I got to the store they handed me the dress in a bag and sent me to try it on. I was finally going to get to see MY dress in white. As I carefully removed the dress from the bag I could feel tears welling up in my eyes and I fought to hold them back. I hated it! I did NOT like this dress in white. It had lost all of its vintage appeal and it did not look good on me. I stepped out of the dressing room fighting back tears and Mama Ticket excitedly exclaimed, “It’s beautiful!” The seamstress noted that I appeared to fit fine in the dress and needed nothing altered and with that I stepped back into the dressing room and changed.
As we were walking out of the store with my dress I lost it. Read more…

That's right, you can't). We are planning our weekend wedding adventure at an environmental educational center, and I can't wait for the fun to begin!

On any given weekend you can find us being adventurous, doing anything from rafting to snowboarding, and everything in between. We live in an outdoor mecca and truly believe in "Work Hard, Play Harder." I'm an optimist to the core, a crafter wannabe, a Southern food cook-in-training and a big time believer in girls nights. We met, fell in love and got engaged in eight short months and are now knee-deep in planning what we hope to be a super-fun, very us wedding celebration. Join us as we plan a rustic meets whimsical, Colorado winter wedding with loads of personal touches and good food!
Being without a photographer is not a fun place to be. I worried big time about this and mostly kept my concerns to myself; I knew bringing it up every time I had the thought pass through my mind would only stress and annoy the mister. Sure, we talked about it but it always came back to: “We can’t afford what you want, Miss Honey.” Hrmph. Somehow, though, I just had this feeling that it would be okay. We had a couple leads from other And then the answer came in the form of a Facebook status update, which I very well could have ’liked’ one million times.
A friend of mine from college, was just starting in the wedding photography business and was looking for couples to take a risk with him and allow him to shoot their wedding and use the pictures in his portfolio. With risk, comes reward, and our reward for taking a chance with a new wedding photographer was the price. Ready for this? It starts with ’n’ and ends with ’a’…or starts with ’z’ and ends with ’h’. Give up? Nada, Zilch…Free! Read more…

If you missed it, we introduced our latest generation last night during the Post a Thon on the boards, so all of the participants of the ’Thon got the first look!
I’m so excited to introduce this generation—it was a blast working with Irene to get these icons just right. After all, only Irene could make a mole look totally adorable! And of course, we added the warbler for our resident Gleek, Mrs. Mouse! (On that note, did anyone watch The Glee Project? I had the serious hots for Cameron Mitchell! Oh man. I’m in love.)
If I had to pick a favorite, I’d go with the porcupine, but as with all generations, choosing a favorite is close to impossible. Which is your fave?

Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.

The detail that is making my heart flutter today is head gear…or head wear. Whatever. Veils and such. After stumbling upon an amazing video over at Style Me Pretty, I really started to think what I wanted to do with my hair. I naturally just thought I would wear a veil and be done with it, but after seeing so many wonderful options, I don’t know how I will pick.
The first look I love is the Bohemian look. I think I would be able to pull this off simply because our wedding is on the beach and will probably be a little less formal that a ballroom wedding.
Mrs. Cola, Mountain View, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Product Communications and PromotionsFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Managing Partner and Senior DesignerEngagement Date: March 5, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CAAbout Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
A long, long time ago, I put “make wedding shadow boxes” on my post-wedding to do list.
Well, better late than never I guess, because I finally got around to it!
Earlier this summer I had purchased some cheap shadow box frames, which I had a location for on a specific wall, but nothing to put in them. It was the perfect opportunity to find some mementos from our wedding that I had stashed away last year.
So I dug through my old boxes of wedding stuff, and printed out some photos to make a collage for the shadow boxes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find my husband’s dried boutonnière, but I’m sure it will turn up eventually. I distinctly remember hiding it in some kind of little box or something, somewhere “safe” where it wouldn’t get damaged in our cross country move, but I guess it was such a good hiding place that now I can’t remember where I put it!
Want to see the finished (but not yet hung) shadow boxes?
(Tip: After you figure out how you want to display your shadow box items, take a photo of the layout before you glue/tape everything into place. It makes a good reference, and is a lot easier than trying to remember the exact layout you liked after picking things up to apply the glue and tape.)

When we arrived at the shop, they handed me a large book with pictures of all of the dresses available to try on. While they didn’t have any of the dresses I had pictures of, I didn’t have any problems finding styles I liked. MOB saw a dress on a mannequin the minute we walked in that she fell in love with. It wasn’t a style or look I was really going for, but there was no question that I’d try it on to make her happy!
