Something Blue?

September 5th, 2011 @ 3:00 pm by Miss Petit Four

I was playing around with my new Forever 21 nail polish today (which is amazing, BTW) and came upon this interesting combination…

I have seen this look on a couple of people, and so I decided to try it out. It looked pretty good, so I thought to myself, why not make it my something blue!

I realize that I did a terrible job on my own nails, but I promise I won’t be doing them for the wedding. You should see my right hand…lol.

So what do y’all think? Is it too hip? :D

It’s adorable but I think for the wedding it’s too risky. The safe was too go is classic and elegant…can’t go wrong with elegance!
Err on the side of sophisticated

I think I’m just going to wear blue underwear, lol-there’s no rule that says people have to see your something blue! ;) I’m not sure how I feel about the contrast between your pink nails and the blue one-the pink are so elegant looking, and the sudden blue is a little disconcerting. What about something like this?

Personally, I don’t like it. I think it will look odd in photos and just seems to be too funky for a wedding.

I agree with OpalGirl333…maybe just accent your manicure with a blue embellishment. Since your bio says you are obsessed with polka-dots maybe you could incorporate some blue dots!

I think one blue nail would be too distracting, in my opinion. I like cosmo_gmr and OpalGirl333’s ideas - I think a more subtle design on one nail that incorportates the color blue would be cute.

Personally not my thing, to me it just looks like you messed up painting one of your nails. I think its a cute idea though. I like PP ideas of maybe just a blue embellishment on your ring finger better.

If you really would like to incorporate blue onto your nails I think the idea of doing something smaller would be the way to go! Maybe a little jewel in the middle of a flower on your ring finger? :) Interesting enough I tried to do the whole one finger is different from the other the other week and the nail tech looked at me like I had grown another head! lol

I’m not a fan either, but I like the blue accent idea

Honestly I’m not a fan but I am getting my nails painted blue for my wedding instead of the traditional french tip. I’m just not liking the 1 finger blue look.

I think the issue is that the blue is a different opacity and color family than the pink–if you had a softer, sheerer blue that was maybe a hint warmer, I think it wouldn’t be such a shocking contrast but would still be different enough to be fun.

I think it’s cute, but as the others have said, it may be distracting. But you could do your toenails blue!

@mandasaurus: I would agree, perhaps another shade of blue?

I also really like the ideas of polka dots or doing your toes blue!

Best wishes for a beautiful day and a bright future!

I guess I’m in the minority, but I think it would be SUPER CUTE to have just one blue nail. I say go for it. It’s spunky!

I would say do it on your right hand (which will probably get photographed less) and on the pinky or thumb. It will make for a cute photo!

Use the blue on your toes, way less obvious and still fun and you’ll have a nice blue pedicure for your honeymoon! That’s what I did at least and my MOH even bought the blue polish so I could borrow it, two in one!

To add to my post above, I think you should search for another blue though…but I love the idea.

How in the heck is it “too risky?” Starting an open flame with gasoline (or something), now THAT is too risky. Wearing a…….different color NAIL POLISH for your wedding doesn’t even really fall on my radar for “risk.”

I say go for it. Let us know if you “survive.”

PS, here’s a picture of one, though it’s on their toes, but the point is it’s right here on Weddingbee…. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/nail-polish-color . So again, I say, go for it.
