We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. After the Wedding, Before the Kids

September 7th, 2011 @ 12:43 pm by Mrs. High Wire

I’m not sure if I’ll experience those post-wedding blues that everyone talks about. Lately, I’ve been feeling so excited for all of the time after the wedding. For the time after we’re wed but before we’ve got munchkins running around. When I’ll be Mr. High Wire’s wife and get to have a loving husband.

Being newlyweds is going to be a blast.

We’ve got lots of couple friends who we are already planning vacations with next year. We will finally get to sink a little more time and effort into setting up our home that we bought this year. We’re planning to build an awning/gazebo in our backyard this winter.

I’m sure that we’ll face trials and hard times. Everyone does. But I can’t shake this feeling of excitement at all that we’ll be going through together. It will be a special time to be a small family just the two of us, the dog, and the cat, but a real, bona fide family all the same.

What are you looking forward to most about being a newlywed?

I’m like you - I’m so excited for being married. The wedding will be fun, but I’m most jazzed about the after part. We’ll finally get to start saving up for a house!

Great post, HW. The best part these past few months? finding every excuse to call Mr. O. “HUSBAND, THE HUBS,” etc. It’s still so surreal. :)

I’m with you - I didn’t have any “wedding let-down”. Perhaps it’s because we tore apart our kitchen the minute we returned from our honeymoon. On to new projects, right?

I totally agree. I couldn’t wait to be a family, and to call him my husband. It feels amazing!

Just being with my fiance and calling him my husband. He’s deployed now, so our wedding will really help solidify that he’s home.

Your Mom and I really enjoyed this period together. We had great experiences together and with friends, just doing what we wanted when we wanted! It’s a special time so do make the most of it.

I’m looking forward to a time when we’ll have two incomes, no kids, and the time to travel and really focus on our selfish dreams. Then when kids come along, we’ll be a bit more altruistic!
