Flower Baby: ✓

September 7th, 2011 @ 5:13 pm by Mrs. Ticket

I once read a magazine article about brides in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. It mentioned the key differences in age groups, from style of dress to size of bridal party. I recall loving the style of the 30s bride’s wedding. It was a simple backyard-like affair and her dress was beautiful, but the part that captured my attention the most was her flower baby. Rather than a flower girl between the ages of three and seven, around the average, she had a flower baby that was roughly between one-and-a-half and two years old. She was the cutest thing I had ever seen in a bridal magazine! I wish I could remember which magazine or issue it was. I believe it was a Brides magazine from 2009, but I really can’t be sure. I have scoured the internet for the article, and it appears it simply doesn’t exist in the digital world.

That being said, let’s get on to the main point of this story: I now have a flower baby of my very own! My sister, MOH Ticket, had a little girl in August of 2010, and that child has a hold over my brain in a simply uncanny way. Her smile makes me smile; simply put, the moment we met at 4:00 AM about two hours after she was born, I knew this little girl would be a MAJOR part of my life from here on out. The moment Mr. Ticket and I got engaged, I knew she had to be included in our special day. I wasn’t even sure how at the time, but the day wouldn’t be the same without her being a big part of it. I’m not sure what triggered it, but something reminded me of that article and I realized that by the time our day rolled around my niece would be 14 months old and would make the PERFECT flower baby!

After having asked permission from this little beauty’s mommy before sharing her picture over the internet (she’s all over Facebook already), I would like to introduce you to…

Our flower baby (Personal photo)

So, naturally, once we decided she would be our FB, I started searching for an adorable outfit for her to wear. Images like this began flooding my bridal vision…

I was sold on that last one! I had to find FB a tutu. I’m still looking for a similar poufy-sleeved top like the little girl in pink has on. Totally gives me Anne of Green Gables flashbacks, and I love it. After searching all over Etsy and various other children’s stores, I ended up finding the PERFECT tutu on Zulily, which was pretty much pure luck! I had been checking out shirt.woot! (as I do daily), and when I saw an add for Zulily I figured what the heck—couldn’t hurt to check. And one of the first things I saw on the site was this tutu!

For under $26 with shipping, I couldn’t pass it up! So when it arrived we just removed the purple ribbon, and it looks perfect for the wedding. Our FB already has practice in tutus, as she wore one for her first birthday recently, so I know she will look beyond adorable.

We still have one more flower-baby project up our sleeves, but that one will have to wait for now…

Anyone else have a flower baby? Or the cutest little flower girl in the world?

i have a very similar story to you. My niece was born 2 days after we became engaged. On our wedding day she will be 10 days short of 13 months.

How are you planning on her getting down the isle, i don’t think my FB will be able to walk the whole isle yet.

We’ll have a flowerbaby! I love that term too, btw - so much better than the ’super young flower girl I’ve been calling her, haha. Our sweet lil friend is 3 mos old now, but will be 16 mos on our wedding day :-) I have a 12 yr old cousin - too old for a flowergirl, too little for a Jr bridesmaid - who will escort her down the aisle!

We had an adorable 14 month old flower baby. She could walk so she was escorted down the aisle by my brother and sister-in-law…and she did perfect!

O she will be so cute! My sister is due with her first baby girl in January, making my niece only 7 months old at our wedding. I guess that might be a little young even for a flower baby, but I would so love to do it.

Our nephews were ring bearers, at the time 5 years and 5 months!!! Older brother pulled younger brother (who had just mastered the art of sitting up unassisted right before the wedding) down the aisle in a wagon. It was beyond adorable!!

I love the idea and will be doing something similar…with my flower girls (ages 4 & 5). They are going to have a “reception outfit”, which includes tutus made by me….since it is my side-business. If any of you bees are looking for a tutu, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or look me up on FB…Cutie Tutie Tutus! I’d love to make you the perfect outfit for your flower babies! I’m not sure if I can self-promote on here, but I have a website and etsy shop as well, they are just not as pic heavy as the FB page. :)
