Mrs. Seal's Picture
Mrs. Seal, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 25, Personal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Sales and Support Specialist Engagement Date: December 12, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2011 Venue: Sts Peter and Paul Church/The Bently Reserve About Me: I am a goofy, wannabe crafty, well-intentioned Renaissance Woman (OK, perhaps "aimless wanderer" is a more aptly suited term for me, but hopefully you get the point)—basically I dabble in just about everything and pride myself in such. Without warning, I occasionally breakout into soulful improvised songs and interpretive dances and there's just no stopping me! As so many others before me, planning our wedding has unearthed a deep, intense passion for all things bridal and I secretly fear the day it will come to an end. Mr. Seal and I are quite the pair and life with him by my side is extremely rewarding—I am so thankful to have found him. Together we are planning a black-tie San Francisco affair for 250—light on the stuffiness and with lots of extra Seal-y flair.
About Mrs. Seal

Choosing a first dance song has been surprisingly difficult for us. Both the Sealman and I—n terms of music—are very well-rounded. Though our favorite genres vary slightly, we both agree on what “good” music is and appreciate the other’s refined musical palette.

Apart from some fun hip-hop songs we bonded over in the beginning of our relationship, the two of us don’t share “a song” In other words, there’s not one particular tune that makes us feel mushy about our relationship—more so a few songs that I goofily do my trademark dance moves to that makes Mr. S fervently laugh.

For a visual, Mr. Seal says my sweet moves (and ridiculous facial expressions) can most closely be compared to the girl from the Sun Drop commercial.

Anyhow, seeing as how I had absolutely no intentions of droppin’ it like it’s hot for our first dance (that’s for the 5th dance…duh), we were left at square one.

Many options were unearthed (I’ll spare you those), but only one song stuck. The tune was one of Mr. Seal’s genius suggestions and is a song I have always loved and grew up singing.

So, though there’s marginal potential for a last minute change, I’m pretty sure this is going to to be the song we share our first dance to.

The song is “We Belong Together” by Ritchie Valens. Though La Bamba—a film based on Ritchie Valens’s life—is one of my favorite movies ever (don’t laugh!), the Los Lobos cover song used for the film is a bit too fast for our liking.

Therefore we’re going for the original and here it is, in all of its two-minute long glory (hoorah for short and sweet)!

Video via YouTube

“We Belong Together” - Ritchie Valens

You’re mine and we belong together

Yes, we belong together, for eternity

You’re mine, your lips belong to me

Yes, they belong to only me, for eternity

You’re mine, my baby and you’ll always be

I swear by everything I own

You’ll always, always be mine

You’re mine and we belong together

Yes, we belong together, for eternity

What’s your first dance song and how’d you select it? DO YOU DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT, TOO!?

….so that’s how you drop it! I have never seen that commercial. She does have some sweet moves. We just choose our first song and I have no clue what style of dance it works with, Oh Darling by Plug in Stereo…

Hahaha, I have those same dance moves I bust out when I am trying to lure my fiance away from his video games without annoying him. That just makes him laugh instead. Love it!

That commercial is awesome! But yeah, I don’t think Mr. FW could drop it even if was on freakin’ fire. So that’s just not an option for us. We’re like y’all in that we don’t have an “our song.” Wouldn’t that have been so much easier if you did?! The song you picked is super perfect, though. It’s gonna be so sweet, and blissfully short. :-)

I have never ever seen that commercial. I think she ripped off my moves. I make it my job to look as absurd as possible when I dance. Mr. LF frequently says, “Wow. I’m so lucky.”

thats such a nice song, and its especially nice that it isn’t one of the five that everyone seems to dance with for their first song. :) Good pick!

This is hilarious, my fiance said I should be the next Sundrop girl. In all honestly, my moves are not as awesome as hers.

Live on the edge… drop it like its hot on dance #3! Love that commercial and your song choice. We are dealing with a 4 minute song. It is going to be painful unless we cut it down!

@Miss Cucumber Sandwich: You just brought up something I, yet again, failed to think of… which caused this text to FH…

Me: oh god… you realize that the All I Ever Needed song is over 4 minutes long?!? That means people will be watching us for like, EVER! omg omg… serious anxiety right now!

He hasn’t responded but I am assuming it will be along the lines of “We’ll figure it out” lmao
