On day three of our trip to Alaska, we woke up, had a big greasy breakfast at the Smoke Shack in Seward, and then we went on a five-hour cruise of the Kenai Fjords with Major Marine Tours.
Dudes, the forecast called for cloudy drizzle all day, but it couldn’t have been a more perfect day for the cruise. It was clear and sunny and just gorgeous.
Imagine five hours of looking at stuff like that. So, so pretty. Mountains and glaciers and icy blue water. It was mind blowing.
We saw some steller sea lions chillin’ on a rock.
Some humpback whales.
And the cutest little sea otter EVER was hanging out by the docks when we got back.
That night, we relaxed with some pizza. And the next day, we went on the dog sledding tour at Seavey’s Ididaride. The Ididaride is dedicated to teaching about the Iditarod, an annual sled dog race across Alaska.
Mr. S and I love, love, love dogs, so of course, this was one of our favorite things to do on our trip.
OMG GOGGIESSSS!!
Mr. S got some kisses.
The guys hooked the sled dogs up to the cart. The dogs were SO excited and were barking like crazy, hoping they’d get chosen to pull our tour.
And then we were off!
After the ride, we got to play with this precious baby girl.
And we met one of the retired dogs.
And our tour guide showed us how they prep a dog for a race.
And the people as well. And look who he chose as his victim?
After the demonstration, we drove back up to spend a few nights in Anchorage.
On the way back, we saw some mountain goats way up on a roadside cliff. SO cool.
On the way up, we stopped at the Alaska Zoo. To prevent you all from getting carpal tunnel from scrolling through so many photos (too late?) I put these in a little collage for you.

Then we checked into our hotel, relaxed for a while, and then went out for Mexican and margaritas.
The next day, it was kind of drizzly again, and we realized that there wasn’t much in the city of Anchorage that we wanted to do, so we drove about an hour outside of the city to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Are you tired of seeing animal photos yet? Tough luck, because here are more!
Caribou

The cutest baby musk ox EVARRRRR.
A grizzly bear.
Two little orphaned baby moose. SO CUTE.
A porcupine.
We drove back to Anchorage, relaxed, and then had an awesome dinner at the Bear Tooth Theaterpub, where they serve you your food and drinks while you watch the movie. WHY DOESN’T PHILADELPHIA HAVE ONE OF THESE? It was so cool! They show second-run movies, cheap, and we saw Super 8, which I highly recommend.
The next morning, we were going to head up north. Stay tuned!
