Our Registry, or Please Buy Us Stuff

September 7th, 2011 @ 3:58 pm by Miss Warbler

A few weeks ago, MOH Johnny5 and I went to an ultra-swank registry event at Crate&Barrel. If you’ve ever been to one of these events, they can be a little overwhelming. They basically give you a short introduction, hand you a scanner, and let you run amok around the store. There’s one thing about the scanner they don’t tell you, though. It makes you feel powerful. And giddy.

I was so excited that I forgot to take pictures! MOH J5 did manage to take this one with his cell phone.

Yes, we’re immature. But you had to be there. It was hilarious. (Personal photo)

After we successfully canned our laughter, we focused on the registry and found some pretty cool items.

I was a little disappointed with their selection of dinnerware. All of the patterns were simple, classic, and looked the same. I wanted something with colorful designs. We also needed a few other things and decided that, instead of registering at a plethora of different stores, we would just register with Amazon. With Amazon, we could expand our registry to include awesome dinnerware sets like these:

And this awesome vacuum cleaner that I’ve seen everywhere lately:

I think our guests will have plenty of options with both registries. In the past when shopping a registry for a wedding, the two problems I ran into the most were not seeing enough options and seeing gifts way out of my price range. With these registries I think we’ll avoid both of those problems. We’re also adding a honeymoon registry to round things out, but more details on that one later!

What’s on your registry?

We’re doing Macy’s, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and Belk. All pretty comparable in price and selection. Belk has a fantastic line of collegiate homewares which I decided I must have. Most of our guests don’t live in the South, ergo no Belk. I like the honeymoon idea but think that 3 registries is enough, haha.

I seriously considered those Lenox chirp dishes. They are even more amazing in person.

I love the Simply Fine Chirp Plates! They’re amazing!

Wedding registry’s are tricky - especially when you find that many of the items are out of your own price range.

In order to make things easier on your guests - try an online cash wedding registry. You can add the items you want to purchase, and guests are able to contribute to the purchase of the gift! Check out a sample registry here: http://weddingrepublic.com/sample

We have not done our job with our registry. All we have is a couple micrograters, the kitcheaid stand mixer, our wedding china, and two pitchers. We’ve got to get it together and soon!

I went with giftrefistry360.com. I like it because can add stuff from anywhere all on 1 list so people aren’t limited. I also dig it ‘cuz I never actaully had to go to a store :) I’m not a big shopper
