Mrs. Lox's Picture
Mrs. Lox, Baltimore Age and Occupation: 33, Government Worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35. IT Consultant Engagement Date: May 8, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m an East Coast gal born and bred and a suburban brat turned city rat for the last year. Now Mr. Lox and I enjoy walking all kinds of places, having the coolest things around in our backyard, and especially our garage parking. I love gadgets, toys, Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream, monkeys, and our insane cats. I’m a blonde by birth and a redhead by choice. I’m that girl in the cubicle farm with all the cool toys and the file cabinet covered in magnetic poetry. I still use smiley faces in my emails, whether people like it or not. This is not the first rodeo for Mr. Lox nor me. And together, we are planning an intimate afternoon wedding on a budget we can afford by ourselves.
About Mrs. Lox

With our first look complete, it was time to take the couples shots I had been dreaming of. There were some spots offsite that I had in my own sights, but I let the photographers choose the rest. First off we took some shots on the front porch of the main mansion.

Okay, I seriously love the front of this mansion. I mean, how perfect is this? It looks like something out of a storybook to me.

After we finished playing on the steps, we headed around to the back of the mansion.

Around back we found a nice hedge to serve as a backdrop and posed a little.

Then we spied the cute little bridge. Important fact about this next picture… just before we stepped onto the tiny little bridge, Mr. Lox said “Are you sure about this? I don’t want your dress to get dirty.” Pshaw! I scoffed at him! It’ll be fine. It’s just a little wood. It’ll be a cute picture! So onto the tiny little bridge we went.

So surely you know what happened next. After a few pictures we moved off of the tiny little bridge, and Mr. Lox pointed down at my dress. “What’s that…?”

It was, of course, dirt. Dirt from the tiny little bridge. You sooooo saw that coming. I looked at it while pondering my options and then told the Chad and his wife that I needed our DOC, Diana. So someone went off in search of Diana and I tried to remember that I am a calm rational woman. It worked… for the most part.

Anyway, Diana came and so did the event coordinator at the Vandiver. After a few different products, I believe club soda won the day and got the dirt out. With the crisis averted, we went on to take more pictures… just not on the tiny little bridge!

Did you have a dress crisis on your big day?

The train of my dress (which was minimal, but still) was filthy by the time we were done with portraits. I didn’t care at that point, though - I was married!!! Hahaha. Silly big white dresses.

I wasn’t worried at all, although the groom was. We stopped at our favorite watering hole before the ceremony, and he was so worried about me dress getting dirty before the wedding. I was so happy that nothing short of a complete malfunction would have bothered me.

Our ceremony was outside so by the time we were done with pictures it was so dirty but nothing the bustle wouldn’t hide…

Little bridge is too cute though and the pic came out nicely. It was all worth it.

So beautiful! Your flowers really pop among all that green. And I fully expect my dress to get filthy :)

It’s so cool to see your wedding at the Vandiver, it was in the running for our wedding. It’s like seeing what could have been! Your wedding is so pretty :)

*sigh* these are just so beautiful! I want to live at that mansion!
I also had dress issues … we never got a chance to unbustle mine before I walked down the aisle. At the time I didn’t care, but now I kind of wish I’d gotten some pictures with the train out.

that’s a really nice pic on the tiny little bridge! By the end of the night the bottom of my dress was not only filthy but somehow someone managed to step on it and tear the train out of the bustle! I still haven’t looked at the damage done (just got married 9/03/11) I’m a little afraid.

The front of that mansion IS gorgeous… but not as much as the couple in front of it! ;)

We plan on going through the botanical conservatory rooms to get photos and I am SURE my dress will get dirty. My mother wants to make some underskirt that comes over with elastic and covers up the dress (which sounds butt ugly to me) and I’d rather just accept that dresses get dirty. :)

Glad you were able to get the dirt out! You look so lovely :) By the end of my wedding day there was dirt all over my train- including multiple flowergirl footprints! But nothing a drycleaner couldnt fix.

You look stunning. But yes, I “ruined” my dress before the wedding, before my soon to be husband saw me, and even before most pictures were to be taken. I climbed a tree for some pictures, and low and behold, SAP got all over my boob!! Luckily my photographer knew some tricks with an ice cube and a blow dryer and saved my day. Actually I could see it, but very few other people noticed it.
