How to Be Successfully Indecisive

September 9th, 2011 @ 2:27 pm by Mrs. Skunk

With the girls picked, we needed a plan for bridesmaids’ dresses. OK, plan made: “Girls, go pick out a dress.” I offered no color, style, length, or sleeve guidelines. I think that it proved to be a little unnerving to my girls. Actually, I know BM C. Koala may have been ready to kill me at various points in her search. The only thing I asked was that they all wear cowboy boots. I’m not a particularly country girl, but there was no way that I was going to wear heels all day during an outdoor wedding. This bandwagon I wasn’t going to miss hopping on!

I’ve had a few bridesmaid experiences. All of them required matching dresses. One in particular I spent way too much money on, had my ego shot down by a saleslady, and ended up wearing a dress that I felt like crap in. Another, I spent a whopping $12.50 on, felt confident in it, and actually wore the dress on a date with Mr. Skunk just last Friday.

But MOH L. Bug is good. And I’m a little out there in my personal style. If I were to be left to choose for the girls, I can’t be certain that they would love their dresses, and I’m too much of a people pleaser to let that happen. In the end, they all opted for a similar length and sleeve style in completely mismatched colors. I absolutely love it. I don’t think any of my girls completely hate me, and they’re all getting a dress that they love and fits them beautifully.

Here are the dresses my girls have chosen!

I could not just let my girls pick… that would not go over well with me or my girls… but I do love the idea of different dresses it can turn out cute.

that’s exactly what i’m doing! my gals need to wear boots (not necessarily cowboy boots… there’s no way one of my bridesmaids would ever wear cowboy boots, not even for me hahaha so i told them any kind of boots) but otherwise any sort of dress is fine with me! they couldn’t really decide on a single color so they’re each wearing different ones :)

I am doing this with my girls too! I only have two, but I did give them color guidelines. Other than that they have free will.

I’m going with a standard color and whatever dress they like. Your girls’ dresses are super cute!

I think it’s a great idea. I’ll be waiting for your wedding pictures to see how it turns out.

It’s interesting that with no guidance, they still picked dresses that look coordinated. Your wedding may end up looking more put together than you figured…
