I Scream, You Scream…

September 12th, 2011 @ 9:44 am by Mrs. Skunk

…we all scream for ice cream! Right, y’all? I have a passion for ice cream. Complete passion. I eat it, I make it, I love it. I saw this article earlier in the summer talking about how ice cream sales are up this year and, quite frankly, I feel proud to have taken part. My addiction is fueling the economy, no? As you may remember from earlier, we aren’t really cake people. We’re having cake to make folks happy but, honestly, I don’t like the texture of cake. Pies, sure. Cheesecake, m’kay. Ice cream, hell yeah!!!

So it just makes sense to have ice cream. The logistics of which would normally prove trying. Neverland doesn’t have the freezer space.

I Scream, You Scream... : wedding atlanta food Truck

However, in working at the markets, I have also met a great local business here in Atlanta called Westside Creamery. They are an ice cream truck that comes around town selling small-batch, artisanal ice cream. I called them up and they were available to bring the truck up the night of our wedding! I haven’t nailed down flavors yet, but in my own personal taste testing (yes, I’ve tried all flavors currently on their menu) my favorites are bourbon butter pecan and maple cinnamon. They will have sorbet, ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, and Mexi-Coke floats!!!

To celebrate my excitement, I’m off to have a bowl of homemade peach I made earlier this week. What’re your favorite flavors of ice cream?

I too, am an ice cream fanatic! I’d love to figure out a way to have a ice cream sundaes at our wedding. Sundaes are a family tradition anyways.

My favorite… oh man, I can’t pick! Sherberts, coffee, vanilla and raspberry lemonade!

What a great idea! I love ice cream too, but we decided to have wedding cupcakes instead. It might be too cold in October for the ice cream….

I have some homemade peach ice cream in my freezer too! It was the first batch I made using my brand-spaking-new ice cream maker from my shower. :)

I can not wait. everyone who we tell loves the idea, the best part we are having one of the local ice cream shops that are well known around here do our wedding for us. We are hiring a local creamery for our wedding as FI loves ice cream and considers that the wedding dessert. I like a simple chocolate chip ice cream…with the tinest chips.

@Mrs. Lioness: Me, you and a WC date.

@MissCarolyn: I am a little worried that it’ll be too cold for ice cream, but I realize that there are way too many pictures of me in a down jacket and long johns still scarfing down ice cream. If I have to single handedly get our money’s worth from the truck, I’ll do what I have to do. YUUUUUMM.

I don’t think there is such a thing as too cold for ice cream. I would love to go to a wedding with ice cream instead of cake…. can I come?!?!
