A lot of the boulder fields we climb at during the season are right around the Chattanooga area, as I mentioned in my post about our venue hunt. Because of this, for about six months out of the year Chattanooga becomes our weekend home. One of our favorite post-climbing digs is the Victorian Lounge at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. I know it sounds silly, but we make sure we leave the field in time to get a couple beers and free hors d’oeuvres.

And, sure, the beer is pretty good and we love our bartender Allison. But honestly, we go there to hear the Johnny Cash Tribute Band. Jason Thomas puts on an amazing set every Friday and Saturday night, and it has become a tradition for our group of friends. Very soon after we were engaged, I sent an email to Jason to find out if he was willing to travel and what he would charge. I was surprised to find out that he would and even came in under budget.

This sounds so awesome! I am a TN girl (now in NC) and just love some Johnny Cash. Of course he’ll play all the biggees, right? Ring of Fire, Walk the Line, It Ain’t Me Babe (Bob Dylan’s original version is barely beat by the duo), Big River, Cry Cry Cry, gosh they are all great. I also like Girl From the North Country (also written by Bob Dylan).
As you can see, I love Bob Dylan too! I’m walking down the aisle to the Adele version of Make You Feel My Love. It is a beautiful song (you may know Garth Brooks’ version from the movie Hope Floats) and I am pretty certain Johnny Cash performed it at some point, though not sure your cover artist would know it.
Sounds like so much fun!

Yay for Johnny Cash, it will be awesome! While I’m not sure they are perfect for weddings, 2 of my fave Cash songs are Ghost Riders in the Sky and Folsum Prison Blues. Fun!

We have friends that live in Jackson, Michigan, and whenever we go visit them I sing Jackson. So, I really enjoyed the title of your post. Plus, I was once kicked out of a bar (I mean, politely asked to leave) for drunkenly harassing the acoustic guitar performer to play more Johnny Cash. So, I’m very excited about this aspect of your wedding.
