RSVP Rundown

September 12th, 2011 @ 9:16 am by Mrs. High Wire

Total Guests Invited: 341 (including Mr. HW and myself)

Originally this was 405, but we decided to trim the guest list a little bit because we didn’t want to have to lay out any extra costs.

The response rate doesn’t really shock me. Our wedding is sort of “destination” in that each side will have to travel a bit to get there. It is about 90 minutes from my hometown and about 2.5 hours from his. So, I expected a few more “no’s” because of this.

Total Yes Responses: 131 (38%)

Total No Responses: 100 (29%)

Total RSVPs Still Outstanding: 89 + a few random last minute invitations that were sent out after I made my spreadsheet (26-33%)

So, uh, anyone want to track down 89 people for me? Please?

Here’s the situation:

Please send this back to me! Personal photo

We have enough food, cake, and spirits for around 150-175. We have enough wiggle room in our venue contract for 220. I’m assuming a large majority of those 89 people aren’t coming, so even if a little less than half do end up coming, I think we’ll be okay. Hopefully we’ll hear from a few more and we can try to contact those who we haven’t heard back from yet.

Luckily, everything is buffet style and we aren’t doing assigned seating besides a few reserved tables for the wedding party and people like my grandma who needs a seat close to the action.

How did your RSVPs break down? Anyone else have a LOT of outstanding RSVPs 2 weeks past the deadline?

There were a few people we had to hunt down, but my “favorite” was the one who sent back his RSVP so late that we found it in the mailbox when we got home from the wedding. Umm, thanks for replying, I guess, but the event’s over now….

Yes, I also had about 89 that hadn’t come in. I divided up with my mom, FMIL, and FI to send texts, emails, phone calls. In most cases, they just hadn’t put in in the mailbox. . . and then, some people just don’t understand the concept of an RSVP card. “Oh, I was supposed to send that back to you?”

YES! Our deadline is in a couple days and we’re still waiting to hear from over half our guests! A lot of people have RSVP’d via word of mouth, but we still need their meal choices. I just don’t understand what’s so hard about checking off a box on a pre-addressed, pre-stamped card and sticking it back in the mail!!!

oooh thank you so much for this! our numbers and location distances are very similar and i was hoping for someone to give me an idea of RSVP numbers! and i’m totally with you. i will bypass the assigned seating and we’re using stations rather than plated dinner. so far, your wedding is amazing. i can’t wait for the final deets!

Weren’t you scared inviting 341 knowing you had room and budget for 220? This is where I (we) are know…mostly me I guess. I am afraid so many more peeps will say yes and I will not have the seating for them.

We have room for 250 and we sent out 350. I am guessing we will hit about 220 or so. I just sent them out Thursday and the last of the people are getting them today. We need an RSVP by the 7th. Fingers crossed I will not have to do much tracking down.

Our RSVP date was 9/1 (wedding 10/2), and it’s been a total PITA having to follow-up with all the wishy-washy jerks. We invited ~160 total, knowing that we’d hav about half that attendance-wise, if that. So far (less than three weeks out), our count is Yes: 64, No: 44, and the rest are super-frustrating “I dunno”s.. We know that they’re going to be Nos, but that doesn’t make it any less stressful in the meantime. I’m very, *very* type-A, and not having everyone accounted for is driving my crazy>/s> crazier.

Also, you and I have the same engagement date! 10-9-10 was a good day :)

I completely feel your pain. Our wedding is this weekend. We sent out about 350 invites and our wedding is a destination for everyone, except his parents and sisters. We had 150 respond they are coming. We’ve spent the last few weeks trying to track down people and find out, and even so, we had three different people email us this week and say they’re planning on coming. Like you, I’m just hoping that we have enough of everything and can squeak through if we’re close on things.

I am SO jealous of these numbers!!

We are having a similar wedding (distance-wise) so we thought we could expect a bunch of No’s simply for the inconvenience of getting there, getting hotels, etc. Nope. We are at 184 Yes, 28 No, and still waiting on 12 people. I was hoping for 125-150. Oh well!
