And I have big plans for decorating these two. Look at all the ways you can decorate this wooden couple:

While the Etsy cake toppers cost between $50-150, I spent a whopping $3 on our wooden couple. (The $4 shipping was more expensive than the dolls!)

I’m so excited that I’ve already sketched out a tentative plan for “us” on the dolls. And weirdly enough, I’m a little worried Mr. Funnel Cake will see too much of my dress by the cake topper representation I’m painting…

Are you having a cake topper?

Ha. I didn’t allow Mr. CA to see my topper until the wedding day; didn’t want him to see my dress either :)

So cute! Our cake topers are from Weddingstar…. The groom is holding his golf clubs and looking at his watch, and the bride is on her cell phone… They’re very us.

My SIL did cake topper people and she also didn’t let her husband see it until the wedding day! Didn’t know that was such a popular idea!

I had to keep our topper away from Mr. E as well because the outfit was so close to what I was wearing.

OMG i have totally just bought my wooden dolls to do as well. The prices people were charging were scary so gonna give it a go. I need to find a little wooden dog one as well though.

This is great! We made our wedding toppers from similar wooden figurines that I picked up at Michael’s for a couple of bucks. (I posted about them here: http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/diy-cupcake-stand-3)

I’m sure they’ll look adorable! I made a cake topper for us and I won’t let my fiance see it, because the dress looks so realistic! Ha!

My brother’s MIL painted ours for us. I was so excited when I saw them that I texted a pic of them to my then-fiance. And immediately realized what I did and sent him another message telling him not to look. He said he didn’t but he could have lied to spare my feelings. :)

I am probably missing it but can I ask, what site did you order the dolls from? And I can’t wait to see what you do with them!

I think it is a great idea and adds a personal touch.. And yes the price being charged on Etsy is a bit much at times. So I myself ordered some wooden dolls to try to create my wedding cake topper as well :)

High five to all you talented bees, I would never be able to paint ourselves on the wooden dolls, and that means I’m super envious :) Can’t wait to see yours FC, they will be amazing!

I love that you’re DIY-ing these. When I saw the pic at the top of the post, I got waaay to excited. I can’t wait to see how these turn out! I’m just happy you’re saving well over $100 by doing this yourself.

I caved and bought mine already made :( It arrived today and I can’t wait to show everyone…. but I completely agree with you that it shows too much of my dress. I guess you will just have to wait 13 more days to see it!

the more I think about it, the more I’m itching to try these. Where did you buy your little wooden dollies? I’d have to order them since the arts/crafts stores here are pretty lame…
