In case you don’t remember, my engagement ring looks like this. A beautiful cognac diamond in yellow gold. *sigh* I love looking down at this beauty.

I’ve seen the wraparound bands and even emailed the designer to see if she could make a band. The problem with a wraparound band is that I wouldn’t be able to wear it alone, as the designer and jeweler both agreed that it would have to be soldered to the engagement ring. I wanted to be able to wear the rings together or by themselves. Because I wasn’t going to have anything that fit right around it, I knew I wanted it to be VERY different. If I was going to mismatch, I wanted it to look intentional. I started looking into rose gold bands and found a couple that I liked, but I wanted to try them on in person to make sure it didn’t look too weird.
Here in Atlanta there is a deal website called ScoutMob. Every day it offers a 50%-off coupon to various businesses around town. One day one popped up for a jeweler. We figured, why not, so off we went and I was so happy to find that they had TONS of rose gold bands in styles that I liked. I love matte- and hammer-finish metals because of how organic they look. In the end, I fell in love with this baby.

I got it made with cognac diamonds to match my band a little and used our 50%-off coupon, which was HUGE. In the end, we spent about $350 on this bad boy. I know it’s unconventional, but I like the stacking look of my rings.

Then it came time to start looking for the mister. He expressed interest in the hammered look as well to match my ring and also so it didn’t look “too fancy.” My mister doesn’t wear any jewelry, so we looked around a bit for something he would feel comfortable in, and one day he sent me a link to an Etsy store with this ring.

It ended up arriving packaged like this with lots of other quirky things like a fortune-telling fish, play money from different cultures, and temporary tattoos. It was definitely one of the most fun packages I’ve ever gotten from an Etsy seller.
