Save The Date, Y’all!

September 15th, 2011 @ 3:32 pm by Mrs. Skunk

I can’t use the abbreviation for save the dates. I’m seriously a 12-year-old boy at heart and would just giggle through this whole post, so for seriousness’s sake, we’re going to talk about save the dates.

I ripped the idea for our save the dates from another bride. A former roommate was sent a save the date, and I fell in love and knew we had to use it. Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying, “Originality is the art of concealing your sources.” So when friends ask, I just pretend I’m super creative.

So with this idea in mind, I got one of my photog friends to bring his gear to the gym one night. We got BM C. Koala to do the writing/makeup, and her hubby GM J. Wasp held the flash and lighting. Together with our crew, we ended up getting a whole file of great shots.

We ended up choosing the black and white version. We decided to save some money by getting them printed on postcards, added some text to the back, and six months to the day they were out the door.

Awesome! I have actually seen the original (or maybe it wasn’t? Who knows who did it first….) so until I read the whole post, I wasn’t sure if it was you guys or the one I had seen a few years ago.

My philosophy on that stuff, though, is that unless someone you know has done it, it’s totally fair game. :)

Squee!! That’s MY date TOO!! Did you know it’s also Guy Fawkes Day? (In Great Britain….not so much in the Jerz).

@Saint1012: I did! We were bummed about our date at first since we were totally hoping for an October wedding, but as soon as we heard it, we knew we could taunt our guests with ‘remember, remember!!!’

Oh and in keeping with a little bit of the Guy Fawkes theme, my venue does a sparkler send off!
